  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone! Like many of you, I'm waiting for the official US release of the Genesis Coupe, and I'm happy to wait for the R-Spec. I'm currently a University of Washington undergrad majoring in Applied Statistics (and studying for Actuarial examinations), and I'm looking very closely at an R-Spec as possible daily transportation/weekend auto-x after I begin my career in late spring/early summer. From what I've seen, the only thing I'm disappointed about is the R-Spec's lack of a SmartKey interface, but this is acceptable considering the purpose behind the setup.

I've exclusively owned Japanese cars in the past, but I'm very impressed with what Hyundai is bringing to the table as of late. I'd been milling over the idea of purchasing an S15 Silvia from someone who has already imported one, but considering legality issues and 9 years of human engineering progress, it seems to make more sense to go with Hyundai this time around. The turbo 2.0 is definitely a plus in my book, especially considering that many of the modifications from the Evo X's 4B engine may very well translate over to the Gen coupe. Time will tell, but I'm definitely excited to see what on the horizon. It's pleasing to see the amount of aftermarket support that has already stepped up, especially from the likes of HKS.

I love that the Genesis fits right into the styling niche that I've already grown to love. I've missed my last 2.0T coupe quite a bit since I sold it to finish paying for college, but something like this will definitely fill the void when the time comes. Here's to looking forward to a test drive, yeah?

Just for fun, here are a few pictures of the last car:

I am curious about one thing though: Does anyone know what the Genesis coupe owners in Korea have been using as far as suspension parts go? I'm thinking it won't be long until companies like HKS, Ohlins, or Zeal are producing quality suspensions, but I don't see any listings just yet. How large is the KDM tuning market and how's the overall quality? I'd hate to think that all of the lowered coupes I've seen in photos so far were using cut springs!

DAMN dude, I admire your dedication to your last car. That thing was really clean for sure.

I totally want a Track edition, and I'm not completely married to the idea of either Track, the 2.0T or the 3.8... I just want a car will all the goodies.

Haha good to see I'm not the only crazy person jumping from a 240sx to a Coupe. Your 240 is in a lot nicer shape than my poor girl, '96 with some serious exterior issues. (A lot cleaner too lol) I actually had a very similar thought process. I was debating spending 10-15k and buying a 98 240sx and doing the swap (Have a shop down the street that does this regularly) but the thought of dumping that much into a 11 year old car bothered me a bit. The coupe seems like it will fill the gap that Nissan left in 1998.

Have you seen the Formula Drift version of the Coupe yet?
