  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New models of Hyundai seem as good or better than Genesis

I agree it will eventually show up but there is more to a luxury car than technological gadgets. Is the Sonata as good or better? Are the seats a comfortable and adjustable? Mats of the same quality? Screen size and options? Sound system? Features like Auto Hold? Quiet and smooth ride?
Sonata is a great car for the money. I had three of them before my first Genesis but using my phone for the key is not going to be the decision maker for my next car. We all have different things that turn us on or off and different values but I don't think Genesis will be second rate by comparison.

I dont think Sonata matches upto a genesis. I was comparing top of the line Hyundai - the Hyundai Azera / Grandeur . Rumors are it will come back to US . The current gen 2020 Azera has all the bells and whistles of a G70 / or maybe current G80 as well.

Hyundai South Korea has also published technical specifications regarding its updated flagship, which will be powered by a 2.5-liter gasoline engine hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission. There’s also a hybrid model combining a 2.4-liter gasoline engine with a 38-kW electric motor, a six-speed automatic gearbox, and a lithium-ion battery pack. Alternatively, the LPi 3.0 model runs on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Being positioned at the top of Hyundai’s hierarchy, it goes without saying the 2020 Grandeur comes loaded with features. Wheels as large as 19 inches are available, along with goodies like a head-up display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a 12-speaker JBL sound system. The list goes on with full LED headlights and electric seats, not to mention a plethora of safety and assistance systems as you’d expect from a flagship car.

Hyundai is already taking orders for the 2020 Grandeur in South Korea.

Time will tell how well the new GV80 will do compared to Hyundai Palisade .... since both look very similar in design / features to me . Obviously folks will pay extra for the Genesis brand , might find less features compared to a similar Hyundai .

We'll have to wait and see. When I bought my 2013 Sonata I considered the Azera. At the time it was about $3500 more for a power passenger seat and little else. It does look like they have stepped in up from that era.

The ‘13 Azera came with a 3.3L V-6 engine with 293hp, as well, unlike the Sonata. It was a very nice step up from the Sonata.

Still, it left the North American market because it was not selling, not to mention that the Kia version (Cadenza) looked nicer.
