  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bought yesterday. Gray with black interior. Hate: paddle shifters. What an odd way to cut costs. What would a more premium paddle shifter add to the price? Dislike: The vibration at idle. Not a huge deal but I own a 15 Mercedes C400 and traded a 16 Maxima for the Genny and neither vehicle has it. No excuse on a luxury vehicle to have that. Love: everything else! This car is a huge upgrade over my old Maxima. She’s beautiful, quiet and loaded with features. Cross shopped it with a 16 Lexus GS and even after this short period of time I’m convinced I made the right choice.

Congrats on the new ride.

Plastic paddle shifter switches are kind of funny, but hey Hyundai have to save money somewhere to make this car such a bargain.;)

To get rid of the rough idle try using premium gas or even mid-grade. My 2015 5.0 Genesis used to idle a bit rough when filled with 87 octane, but it runs very smooth with 93 octane or premium gas.

Many members will tell you to use only 87 octane, but these engines has high compression(11:0 or higher) that runs better with 91 or better octane fuel. 87 octane is the bare minimum fuel to use in these engines. Hence the rough idle due to timing retard.

Try running a few tanks of premium and give us feedback on how the engine behaves.:)

I've had now two Genesis 3.8 and the last one had 39,000 miles. At idle you felt nothing. You should get that checked out as it should be very smooth.

I don't use the paddle shifters enough to complain about them. I suspect many Genesis owners don't. I'd rather move the shift lever over and bump it up or down.

As soon as I felt it I searched this forum. It’s a pretty common issue. The car vibrates a bit with the A/C on at idle. I wouldn’t call it rough but definitely noticeable. Only really feel it in the steering wheel. I’ll get it checked out but all the threads I’ve read here about it says ultimately the techs tell them it’s a characteristic of the car and nothing can be done. I’ll also give higher grade gas a shot like carguy75 suggested.

I don't use the paddles so moot issue for me at least.

As for idle, I've never noticed any issues on my 2015 3.8 AWD.

I don’t use the paddles either. Doesn’t excuse such an odd cost cutting choice. They are so out of place in a luxury car. My C400 has them and they feel premium. Not cheap plastic. And I’ve never used them.

I barely see them hiding behind my steering wheel, my passengers don't comment on the look of them (probably don't even notice them), they don't look like plastic anyway, so it's a total non-issue for me. First world problems as they say. :)
