  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Took delivery on Monday, 2015 Ultimate 3.8 Ibiza/Ivory. ****ing love it.
Went cruising, noticed a slight/decent wobble when applying brakes with more than average force. Back to dealer today, warped rotors. Tech said its the first time ever seen on a Genny. New rotors will be installed on Monday after initial recommendation was just to machine them. No, no, my sales manager steps up and calls regional to ask for full rotor replacement.

While in service they checked all recalls it seems cause they were going to replace tires as well, I said hooooold on there partner... I'll save that till 4/18 thank you very much.

Anyone else run into this? And/or be on the lookout for this...

Just had tint done as well, 20% all the way-round, 35% on windshield, looks tight. Pics soon..

Warped rotors on a new car are rare. Can be caused by improper torqueing of the wheels, or maybe a wild test drive with extreme braking. Warped rotors are not rare when some tech tries to turn (machine) the rotors and botches the job.

There aren't any states were a 35% tint is legal on a windshield (unless you talking about the top 6" only), just letting you know.

Yes, I'm aware my tint setup is not on the up and up. If I get pulled, I just have to remove it and prove it was removed, no fines. Has happened to me once already. Hopefully lightning will not strike twice as getting pulled for tint is very rare.

Yes my sales manager watches out for me, bought 4 cars from him now. Putting my rear wing on today, will try and take pics this weekend.

Love your color combination.. Kudos for the sales manager stepping up. Did he do this on his own, or back your request? Make sure he gets a 10 mention. N the comment section of any dealer or Hyundai survey...

Just another data point, my wife test drove a 2015 3.8 with 26 miles just yesterday - and the steering wheel shook when she was on the brakes with any force. Not good.

Could be wheel install torque, foreign debris, terrible rotors, who knows. If available, I'd put Brembo blanks on it and hope for the best. Never seen this on a brand new car.

One way to warp rotors is to hose the car off with cold water when the rotors are good and hot - like after a lot of braking, long trip, hot day, etc.

Traditionally, you cut 'em down (machine them), but I prefer to just replace them entirely. Lots of ways mechanics can screw things up when they machine them.

Also, I bought a new car once that had sat on a lot so long the rotors had a lot of rust build-up - had to machine those - although only lightly.

Took delivery of my 2015 Genesis about 2 weeks ago. I had them look at a braking vibration last week, one week after purchase, although I noticed it immediately on day one... it just took a few days to get an appointment.

They are putting new rear rotors on today (they had to special order them) under warranty. I had two theories a) an aggressive test drive or b) the more likely is that the car sat for 8 months during the coldest winter ever. I think the rotors corroded sitting for so long. I had a lot of rear brake noise this year in two other vehicles caused by calipers moving less freely in extreme temperatures. It went away after a few judicious brake applications though.

Anyway, I hope this isn't indicative of things to come on this car!

P.S. does anyone really turn rotors anymore? It's usually cheaper just to swap the rotors.

I bought a Ford Taurus in May '08 - had same problem - car sat on the lot, because of the recession, for many months. They machined the rust off.

Be happy you got new rotors - the mechanics can really screw up the rotors (and the car) when machining them. And, at some state car inspections, they actually check rotor thickness still.

p.s., I once replaced some warped rotors on a Buick with some chinese generics @ $18 apiece - Now that was cheap, and they worked perfectly.

They just called to say the rear is done, but that they are ordering front rotors now too after test driving the car again. I guess they weren't completely satisfied with the results and still felt some vibration.

I'm certainly not complaining about the service. I'm totally happy that they want to get it right.

my car vibrates when i'm exiting the freeway. I actually haven't noticed this past week. My initial thoughts were the rotors are warped, but I didn't think that could be it if the car was new. I called my dealer and asked if it could be the tires. THey ordered the tires. I'll get them to check the rotors first.

Rotor problems generally manifiest themselves when braking - get the car up to speed 50-60 mph and apply the brakes.

You'll find out in a big hurry if it's rotors.

New rotors installed, braking is smooth and even now, no vibration. Wow, just like its a new car or something! :p

So, i did a lot of freeway yesterday and didn't notice any vibration. Maybe it was just the brake pads breaking in....

I took delivery in April, my car had 30kms on the odometer and I notice a pulsing/shudder when I got on the brakes above 60kmph. Was really bad in the beginning, but seemed to get slightly less each time I drove the car.

Now with 3000kms on the car I don't notice it at all.

I'm pretty sure that it was a result of the car sitting on the lot for a while and corrosion on the rotors that get cleaned off by firm braking from speeds over the course of a couple months.

I actually inspected the rotors once or twice after driving in the first month and they looked dirty/rusty. They now look clean after a drive.

FWIW, I spoke to the dealer and they told me to get on the brakes a few times to see if it resolved, if not, bring it in. I was busy and never got around to it before it resolved itself on it's own.
