  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello! I've just purchased a 2011 3.8 sedan after liking Genesis's since inception. Really happy but having a few questions: (1)what is the purpose of the trunk divider shown in the KDM accessories site? and (2)GENESIS background occasionally shows up on the info screen-problem with unit? More questions but no time, so... tia

Could you provide links or photos related to the above questions?

Definitely need more clarity around questions (link to KDM site, etc...). Which screen?

My apologies for a disjointed (and misplaced) query. Thinking and dealing with a teen-aged daughter can mess up clear writing. In re #1, I was referring to a piece that I saw on an accessory site. It turns out to be a section that is already in place in the trunk. #2 referred to the navigation screen. GENESIS will occasionally display on the screen. I would like to have it "on" when nothing is in use although since I just figured out how to get a completely dark screen (everything not in use)it doesn't seem quite as important. More clear I hope! After a sit-down in front of the navigation system today it seems that issues have cleared up and for now I don't have any big issues.:)
I've been impressed by the overall "feel" of the contributors to this site. No kiddies or crazies., just pleasant, intelligent discourse. Well, thank you for you replies.

I have found that when I drive at night for long periods, I turn the nav display off. It really darkens the cabin and looks 'clean'. That said, I do like the way everything lights up. I especially like brightness of the interior LED overhead lights. Enjoy the car!

The nav screen on Tech package cars (maybe others, mine's a Tech so that's what I know best) splashes "Genesis" during its power-up sequence if the car has been parked/off for a while. If the car has been parked/off for just a few minutes (less than 20 minutes or so) the system will be waking up from a "standby" state which boots up much faster - you probably won't even see the "Genesis" screen. The actual power-up sequence starts as soon as the car has some inkling you are coming: unlocking the doors, opening doors or the trunk, etc... the sequence can get started before you actually start the engine.

The "Genesis" splash screen should not display while driving; if so the system is rebooting/restarting as a consequence of some problem. Loose fuses sometimes, problems with the expensive electronics other times.
