  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have been waiting for this day to come since I bought my Genesis back in October, Since the day I picked up my car I said that I couldn't wait for the Dunlop's to wear out so I could mount a set of Pirelli P7's. Don't tell my wife but I did hasten the departure of the Dunlop's, they really do not like smoky burnouts.

But why the P7's? I fist fell in love with the P7's just over a year ago when we had them installed on my wife's Sonata. With the Sonata I found them to be a massive improvement over the stock Kuhmo's, they are extremely quiet and comfortable while giving fantastic handling. Not only that but right after having them installed we took a trip to Vegas and the Sonata picked up a full 2 MPG over the same trip with the Kuhmo's.

So with that experience you can se why I was really looking forward to having them on my Genesis. Since they were installed I only have 15 miles on them, but so far the initial experiences are the same as they were on the Sonata. They are very quiet and the initial turn in is extremely sharp with amazing grip. I will have 300 miles on them by the end of the week but the real test will be my vacation to WY in June. It'll be interesting to see how they effect my mileage, I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for this report MK 19. I anticipate buying tires for my 2012 3.8 very soon. The P7 is on my short list along with Pilot Super Sports and the Continental DW. I don't need all weather ability since I live in a hot. dry city. I like the idea of comfort and quiet. I look forward to future reports.

I also do not need a All Season Tire as I live in SoCal, we have received a total of 9 inches of rain in the past year so the All Season aspect of the tire is completely wasted with the way that I drive. One of the things that turned me to the P7's was the tread wear rating of 800, most of the summer tires you find have great traction but at the cost of tread wear. My wife and I put 20K miles on each of our cars every year so the longer we can go on a set of tires the better, the last thing I need is a $2000 per year tire budget.

I'm going for a drive up Azusa Canyon tomorrow so I can push it a little and see how she does.
