  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello All!

Just picked up a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 AWD white in color with tan interior and black piping on the seats. 30k miles. I'm a bit confused on the trim levels, I'm certain I got an the technology trim level, but it also has the 9.2 inch screen with multimedia controller and what I could find online says that its only on the 5.0 Ultimate. But perhaps its on both but only listed for 5.0 on autotrader for some reason.

Look here --> "5.0 Ultimate adds 19-inch alloy wheels, micro-suede headliner, 9.2-inch display with driver information system multimedia controller, 17-speaker Lexicon audio system, adaptive damping, headlight washer, and Smart Key Card proximity key."

Regardless I love the look and feel of it. It's actually back at the dealer for a couple of warranty issues. The first is the sunroof was making a cracking noise as it closes. The second was my drivers seat when operating it moving it backwards it felt rough as it moved along the track.

The third issue is where I have some conflicting information. The USB input in the center console under the stereo will not play sound. When I plug in my iphone it will pull up the multimedia on the screen and show its playing but no sound will come out, no matter the volume. The dealer tech said that this port isnt meant for music but data updates only. I should be using the aux port. I went out to the other genesis and tried the usb in that one and it worked as it should. They're confused and the salesman that I purchased it from agrees with me, has anyone else heard of this issue?

I also was curious if the quad exhaust tips from the 5.0 will fit on the 3.8 bumper, I was able to find a thread on this but it seemed to all be conflicting information on whether or not it works.

Please feel free to comment on anything I have mentioned, I would love to hear from you guys!

The larger screen in on all Ultimate. The 5.0 does have the 19" wheels though and different headliner. You should also have the heated steering wheel, very nice in winter.

I believe the tech is correct about the port in the consul but check the manual to be sure.

Meantime, enjoy the ride.

Believe he stated that he got the 3.8. The Ultimate package on the 3.8 includes the 9" screen, but not the heated steering wheel of 19" rims.

Replying to both threads:

Well the manual says it can be used for multimedia playback via usb, I actually do have a heated steering wheel because thats standard with the AWD option! :)

If your phone is connected through bluetooth it should play music through that connection also.

Correct, and it does through bluetooth, but if it's plugged into USB, bluetooth is now unavailable as it tries to play via the hardware, even though it is on the screen, there is no sound from the speakers.

That is an odd problem indeed. Before I upgraded to the carplay firmware for the vehicle, music functionality worked via that port for me for an iphone X.

However, it was far less desirable to use than bluetooth, so I ultimately utilized one of the cigarette lighters to charge my phone and left the USB empty.

Congrats on the purchase!

3.8 Ultimate - 18" wheels, heated steering wheel, stock exhaust, regular headliner
5.0 Ultimate - 19" wheels, no heated steering wheel, quad exhaust, soft headliner

Add/correct if I am wrong.

BTW welcome to the family! Enjoy your limousine! :-)

"The Ultimate package requires both the Signature and Tech packages. It adds a power trunk lid, dual-zone automatic climate control, a color head-up windshield display, an upgraded navigation system with a center console multifunction controller and a bigger display, matte-finish wood and aluminum trim, a carbon dioxide sensor for the climate-control system and a Lexicon 17-speaker surround-sound audio system.

All-wheel drive can be added to any Genesis 3.8 and with it comes headlight washers, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel.

The Genesis 5.0 has all the content of the Signature and Technology packages and adds a 5.0-liter V8, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED foglamps, illuminated door-sill plates and the matte wood and aluminum trim. The Ultimate package for the Genesis 5.0 takes all the content of the 3.8 model's Ultimate version and adds driver-selectable suspension adjustment."

But I have never seen 2015-16 5.0 Ultimate with Heated Steering Wheel. That is why I went with 3.8. I know you can get with 2018 5.0 AWD

Am I correct to deduce that the headlight washer option is only available on Canadian (or non-US) vehicles?
My 2015 Ultimate 5.0 either doesn't have them or I'm really in need of sleep.

You don’t have them. I have them on my 3.8 Ultimate US Model.

I had them on my AWD. You'd see two rectangle covers on the bumper if you did have them. My 2018 does not have them, probably a cost savings. For my use, it was not a big deal anyway. Don't miss them at all.

Thanks. If I did have them I'd probably have to try to re-position them to squirt at a car going by me. It would make my giggle.
