  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello. Two weeks ago I purchased a 2014 Genesis with Tech Package and I am in love. I am hoping to keep this baby for a number of years. I have been a Hyundai enthusiast since 2001 and this is my 4th Hyundai. My question is, I live in South Carolina and summers are pretty bad, so I was wondering if it would be possible to install a rear power sunshade and would like to know if anyone has had one installed? Thank you.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have a '12 tech package which came with the power shade. Are you sure you don't have one? Is there a button just forward of the seat position selector switch???

I don't know anything about an after-market sunshade. But a tint using a high quality ceramic tint film with a 35% VLT should do the trick. Expect to pay about $350 for a good ceramic tint job on all 5 windows (windshield excluded). Doing it now is best before they become busy when summer arrives. I have Formula One Pinnacle tint film on my car, but there are other good ceramic films from other manufacturers. Make sure the installer has a reputation for doing a quality installatioin.

Thank you.

Holy cow... thank you so much. I am slowly trying to learn all the buttons and options.

Yes, Charlie, your car has a rear sunshade. Enjoy it! Yes, it retracts temporarily when you put the car in reverse. Or, you can press the door button to make the shade stay down.

Your User Profile should say 1 G, not 2 G. The '15 and '16 are the 2nd generation vehicles. '09-'14 are first generation. '12-14 are refreshed 1G models.

Follow Mark888's advice and get a good ceramic tint job. I chose Llumar Air Blue 80 ceramic tint. It's got a slight light blue tint color. It's not the dark gangsta style tint.

Another SC native! Whoo hoo..(I travel back and forth between Columbia and WILM NC).
Welcome to the club. The 2014 4.6 was the first one I looked at before I got my 12'. That is a sharp car + tech package.
If your car came with a manual, I would dig into it and learn the ins & outs. That way you are in front of the dealer with anything they may throw at you. The rear shade info is in the manual too.

Yes, as a window tinter, CERAMIC will make you smile. It cost a bit more but I am telling you it is worth it.
The AIR BLUE is awesome. It is hard to get in some places. I cant get it often myself. I will do my windshield with it (like Mercedes).
By all means stay away from the economy film which may contain metal as it may interfere with AM/XM signals or even cell phone signals.
And over time, it may fade or change colors. That is another topic for another thread :)

Enjoy yourself
