  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just had my Gen at the dealer for its first oil change. I asked the service rep to check my wipers which really don't completely clean the windshield. He agreed with me and had to order a new set. He mentioned that they are a special "compression" wiper costing $75/pair. This intitial replacement will be covered under the 12 month warantee. You all may want to have your wipers checked before the first year is up!:)

Wow, that's amazing! If you're having to have them changed this soon, looks as though that'll be an annual expenditure.

Encountering unexpected high-dollar expediture items like that, reminds me of the first brand new car I purchased. It was a '80 Mercury Lynx Touring Edition. What I didn't know when I bought it, was that it had special rims that would accomodate a specific tire that only Michelin made. The problem was two-fold. The tires cost $250 each -- a hefty bill for a newly commissioned second lieutenant. Secondly, they were AA rated for both temp and traction, which meant that cornered outstandingly. However, they were made with such soft rubber (I think the treadware rating was < 300), they had to be replaced every 30K miles.

Anayway, thanks for eliminating the sticker shock for other Genesis owners, when they have to replace their wiper blades!

They're $75 a pair from the dealer, but much cheaper elsewhere. Rain-X makes "compression" wiper blades.

I'm going to have to check out that "compression" wiper. No way I want to pay that high price. I see that my Orlando dealers has the Hyundai wipers right out front at the parts department.

USMA84,
I remember those wheels and tires. They were a metric size, not an inch size. Ford screwed up on that one.

Also, Honda screwed up on their top of the line Odessy (sp) as it came with a special tire made by Michelin. So special, that nobody except three or four dealers in the country, could change the tire. Friend of mine had one, and the tire went bad, and even the selling dealer could not change it, as it needed special tire changing equipment. He got rid of it for a Ridgeline, of all things.

I gave up on Hyundai blades and put on Trico Neoporm blades. I don't know if they are compression or not, but they work.

Sounds like the Michelin TRX tires that needed TRX wheels. A friend of mine had them as OEM equipment on a Mustang. It was used on a number of vehicles, not just Fords. 30K miles is actually not bad for high performance tires.

"Compression" wipers are the one piece deals.

Yep, I had them on my '83 5.0 Mustang GT. 225/55VR's if memory serves. Wore out fast. My dad thought I was abusing them. He was right... we had to replace the rear differential after 11k miles. We replaced the rims and put on BFG's at some point.

Everyone makes compression wipers now. Rain X, Trico, Michelin......
The local Advanced Auto just had Trico's buy one get one free. They are $17 each for our cars. So I got 2 for $17

Go to the dealer as a last resort if you cant find parts in the local auto parts stores. They will rip you off big time. Sorry for dealer folks who are on here but just trying to help consumers interest.

Tracked down exact replacement wipers made by Valeo . Genesis wipers have a unique locking clip which is not included in regular off the shelf wiper blades. The Genesis sedan uses a 24" drives side and a 20" passenger side blades. I came across a pair at Amazon Valeo 900-20-7B Ultimate Wiper Blade - 20" and Valeo 900-24-7B Ultimate Wiper Blade - 24". The prices fluctuate but the last pricing was 16.35 for the 20" and 17.04 for the 24". Beats $75.
Just press the clip to remove and slide the replacement in. No fumbling with adapters.
