  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

my 2019 G70 2.0T awd was in the shop for regular maintenance and the dealer dropped off a 2023 G70 loaner. driving the newer car I noticed that it feels a lot faster and more responsive, the transmission shifts quicker and the car holds the gear longer in Sport mode. Sport+ is unique to the newer car, it turns off the traction control and makes the shifts a lot sportier at higher revs. it bangs up and down through the gears almost like a dual clutch gearbox

comparing it to my 2019, my car often feels caught flat footed, almost in the wrong gear and it takes a harder press of at the throttle and a time delay for it to respond and accelerate. The new car is smoother and more immediately responsive. I will turn off the coasting mode in case this contributes to this feeling but would love to have the car be a bit more responsive.

my question to this forum: is there an upgrade that can be performed on the 2019 car to make the transmission/ECU a bit more responsive? I'm not looking for the Sport+ mode, that's more appropriate for a track. But definitely the responsiveness of the Sport mode that the 2023 model has really makes the newer car special

Yeah, the transmission tuning of the 22+ is really well done. There is no known upgrade for the 2019 unless you buy a tuned TCU from a time like Lozic.

thank you for the quick reply. I'm not sure i want to modify the stock car with an aftermarket tuned TCU, last thing I want is to void the powertrain warranty. It would have been nice for Genesis to offer the upgrade of the older cars to the new specs, that's something I would pay for if it works just like in the 22+ cars and retains the warranties

I find that if I want to drive sporty I pretty much need to shift manually as the transmission doesn’t downshift to keep the revs up. It’s probably the only thing I am disappointed in with the car but since I can manually control it I’ve learned to not care lol.

My '23 still shifts lazily in sport mode by itself (a lot more lazy than my DCT SF in sport mode), so I almost always use the paddles. However, what I really like is it shifts crazy quick indeed. In fact, it actually shifts quicker than my DCT-equipped Santa Fe Calligraphy in sport mode. And super firm shifts; it's the best regular TC tranny I've ever owned. It feels like a DCT, and I enjoy driving it. The only negative is 1st gear is too tall, and car feels lethargic on initial take-off.
