I saw this posted on Carfax for my car. Mailers have not gone out yet and are scheduled to go out June 8th. This is a bad one - fuel could leak out of the pipe and cause a fire. There is no fix currently. I asked the dealer about this yesterday as I dropped my car of to get the AC condenser replaced under warranty.

A guy on Facebook brought his car in for routine service and they dealer noticed his was leaking. So they impounded the car until there is a fix.
Lucky for him, they gave him a brand new GV70 for a long term loaner. I guess if it is not leaking, they will not impound it, but I am only assuming.....
But those loaners will go quick and without a fix in place, there is going to be an issue.
I understand this is not just for Genesis, but also for Hyundai and Kia/

If the fuel pipe begins leaking, I would presume you would start to smell gas after parking the car in the garage, no?

Maybe. But if it is just a couple of drops maybe not. From what I have read, it is only a very few vehicles that actually leak, maybe like less than 1%, and older ones more than newer ones, but very many are affected by the issue (GV70s and GV80s). Check the NTSB recall website for your VIN. My 2021 is on it but does not seem to be leaking anywhere.
It "could" be catastrophic, but I have not heard of any reported like that, and in really bad recalls, NTSB in the past have issued "do not drive" and "park outside away from the house" orders which they have not (yet?) done in this case.
I imagine once a fix is announced, there will be a mad rush to already over-their-head dealers to fix the hundreds or thousands affected.
It would be nice if they made available a "parts kit" so owners could DIY or take it to a local shop and have repair work done, but given the potential liability, I doubt that will happen. My closest dealer is 4 hours away now that 2 nearer ones have closed.

Canadian vehicles are also affected. An April 9 notice on the government website lists Transport Canada Recall Number 2026-185 as "incomplete". The link to Hyundai/Genesis indicates we will be contacted by letter.

Well the letters are out, received one on my 2023. Talked to two dealers and they don't yet have a fix. The letter does mention that you can take it to the dealer to check....and tighten?? The dealers didn't seem to agree, they are awaiting instruction. It does say if you smell gas to take to a dealer right away!

Quite a confidence booster Genesis! We wait till we smell gas (and get the car impounded?) or carry a fire extinguisher?

Thanks!
Which years and models are listed in the just released letter, as I haven’t received one yet on my 2022 GV80 3.5.
I agree, best to get ahead of others in the crush to get a recall appointment. We’ll see when Genesis catches up to the recall.

Thanks!

I’ve dropped mines off on Friday for both the sunroof and fuel pipe recalls. Plus some additional regular maintenance. Managed to get a GV80 Coupe as a loaner and I LOVE IT

Did they confirm they have the fuel rail recall parts ON HAND?

I did a search on my 21 Prestige through the govt web site and no recall. I have the 2.5engine and from everything I have read, is is only the 3.5 engine, but no mention of that on the NHTSA notice. You would thing that they would mention that on the bulletin.

Out of curiosity, has any one with the 2.5 gotten a notice or had their car show up on the NHTSA notice?

Thanks.

To be honest with you! I’d forgot to ask and plus once they brought the Coupe out to me, I was happy with that.

There are a few PDF files available on the NHTSA website. The "Notice to Dealers" file RCMN-26V229-6484.pdf lists the affected models and years. All are 3.5T engines.

The fuel pipe connecting one side of the V6 engine to the other may not have the fittings properly tightened which can result in a fuel leak... especially if vibrations cause the fasteners to loosen further. I don't have a V6 engine to look at to know where this fuel rail is physically located; it likely is on the back (firewall) side of the engine compartment. If you can smell gas under the hood after a drive then something is leaking and the vehicle needs attention NOW - I'd have it towed to the dealership rather than driving it. The fittings can be re-tightened to the proper torque spec if they haven't already started leaking, otherwise that fuel pipe assembly is supposed to be replaced if I'm reading the NHTSA documents correctly. NHTSA file RCLRPT-26V229-0144.pdf

For those of you with mechanical curiosity, pop the cover off the engine and look for the fuel rails at the top/tips of the fuel injectors. Follow those rails and you'll see a pipe connecting them - that's the pipe in the recall.

Well I guess I'll just keep my EYE on this thread right here , never know when the 2026 3.5 GV80 prestige will wind up on the list

We’re leaving on a road trip this Thursday and i called genesis to get a loaner. No can do they said to talk to dealer ( who by the way has never yet returned my message from last week left on the service managers line). We have 2 cars recalled plus seat belt recall and one has had a gas smell in cabin ( but oddly not all the time - and cant now remember which one). No other leaking or visible gas puddles, etc. Called dealer yesterday and both them and Genesis NA said keep an eye on it! Kinda hard to do if you car catches fire rolling down the highway.
PS - dealer would not even look at fuel rail bc they said they have no fix and could not give me an apt until next Monday for the seat belt.

PS:

My dealer still isnt online….

I guess that means they did and do not?

It's funny how the recall lists a fix for it and yet some of the the dealers claim to be clueless. Since they are giving him a new Coupe, I would think they will get it back to him fast. Unless the coupes are not in demand like they were and they have a lot of them.

Took it upon myself to drive G90 to the dealer today. They said no fix yet for fuel rails, but, did fix seat belt recall. GV80 Coupe also has rails recall....

I doubt seriously they will give anyone an extended loaner with no solution or parts in site. Probably just to fix his seat belt in this case.
If they have not provided parts, they may not have provided torque specs either because they dont want techs wrenching on things they could brake and totally disable the car with no parts to fix it.
I read somewhere on this Forum (or maybe FB) that dealers have impounded known leaking cars for safety, WITHOUT giving the owner anything to drive, not even a rental.
