  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all. I’ll be purchasing a G80 sport this month and am trying to decide whether to buy the AWD or RWD.

I live in Northern California and don’t receive any snow, and pretty much only receive a “down pour” 2-3 times a year.

I was reading some information and noticed a few things you guys or gals may be able to help me with.

1. Is it true that with the AWD model if I damage one tire I’d have to replace all four?

2. In all seriousness, in my situation, do you think there’s any real advantage to getting the AWD model? This is not a price point issue. It’s more of a longevity one (less parts, less problems).

Note that while i’m buying the sport model I’m in this more for the luxury. I’m a pretty moderately tempered driver. Think lean back and cruise.

Thanks you all in advance for your advice.

We have a 2018 G80 Ultimate RWD and find it to be the best car of my 70 years of driving. Started when I was 17.
We live on the southern border of Washington State, Vancouver which get little snow, but just enough to cause a little concern with traction with RWD but you can get around using caution and care. I'm with you when considering the added costs of repair when considering AWD; plus the added costs of repair, insurance and fuel. The number on the road sign is my speed, it gets me there. (I think differently since I was 17).
I like very much the "goodies" of the G80 and they all work well. V6 & RWD = High Marks!
