  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Title. My local dealer of course told me that all their loaners are booked. But they also told me that if you are outside the 5 year 60k warranty, you are no longer eligible/entitled to a loaners per GMA policy (so all dealers).

Is this true or is the dealer giving me a load of something?

True. Some dealers though, will give you one. When my AC was being fixed I had a loaner for 2 1/2 days. I'm sure I paid for it in the end.

So if I'm understanding correctly, it's true that after the bumper to bumper warranty period the dealers are no longer technically obligated to provide loaners? (Even though they really don't in the beginning) and if they do it's completely up to them?

The way that I would describe it is that after the warranty period, Genesis no longer reimburses the dealer for providing a loaner. The dealer is, of course, free to continue to do so, but it will be at their expense. My local Lincoln dealer always provided loaners from their used car inventory if the service was going to take more than a day (they had free ride/pickup via limo for shorter services). They decided that it was worth it for them to pay for this, rather then lose what few remaining customers that they had.

Right, depends on how customer oriented your dealer is and what service you need.

They might cover it in some situations, like if it is Hyundai's fault that you could not get your car back. When my car was at the dealership for five months waiting on a backordered part, the dealership billed the loaner to Hyundai. I suspect it depends a lot on if the service manager is willing to fight Hyundai. Mine implied that he expected Hyundai to ask about the loaner fee, which suggests that dealerships need to explain why they are providing loaners for out of warranty cars.
