  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Not even 60 hours with the car, and...

it died on me. I was driving down the road, the car shuttered, power steering went out, motor cut out, lights stayed on, i managed to haul the car off the road and into someone's drive way.

I tried to restart the car, and the engage would try and turn over, but never quite manage it. Then, the red car battery light would come on. Crazy thing is, it started up, I got out of the drive way, and a good 10 minutes down the road...so how can it be just a battery issue.

Slightly P.O'ed. Dealer is going to get an earful tomorrow. I got a great deal, but a lolly pop wrapper in the passenger center stack and now this...i'm beginning to wonder if my car was prepped.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
called the dealer today and found out what happened to my 2 day old Genesis: a bent valve - which they are replacing.

They said they hadn't heard of it happening on a Genesis before. I'm not sure if it is an intake or exhaust valve, but there you have it.

Keith Hawthorne Hyundai has been very professional through all this and making sure I've got a loaner (another Genny). They are also keeping me informed which I appreciate and basically giving me some white glove treatment which is the right way given the circumstances.

Anybody heard of a bent valve issue on a Genny?
I'm a bit concerned with an engine issue from a quality control perspective this soon. 10 year / 100k warranty covers the engine, right?

yep your engine is covered 10 years 100,000 miles. Rare things like this do happen and show up quickly most of the time. I had a new loaded 1989 Mazda 929 ( V6 RWD Lux Sedan) with less then 6000 miles on it when the crank shaft went bad. After a new engine we put like 150,000 miles on the car with no problems. Sold it and bought another new mazda 929.

it's worrying.. what if the valve bent because there was some foreigh object in there?
Who knows if replacing the valve is all that's needed?
I know sometimes the whole engine gets shipped back to R&D to be stripped down when things happen.
Maybe ask to talk to the Hyundai rep the next time he/she visits the dealer to discuss your concerns.
