  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

I have just put on 10000 km on my 21 g70 3.3 sport and I have had nothing but problems. I currently have a vibration that is felt in the steering wheel and seat that increases with speed and is felt at all speeds. I feel a vibration when accelerating in the gas pedal. The right feels very bumpy like even on a smooth road it feels like its hopping. Like I can honestly feel every bump with like no suspension dampening in comfort or sport mode. I have been to the dealership over 10 times. I have felt these things whether it was summer or winter tires and we have tried changing rims/tires. I have road force balanced and the issue is still ongoing. Also when driving in sport mode the transmission is very rough and lunges when shifting gears. The dealership has given up and just state this is the way the car is. The car feels worse to drive than the WRX i upgraded from. I am honestly about to give up on this car as well and trade it in for a supra or something. I don't know what to do. I hear everyone saying the car is amazing and the reviews says its the best but quite simply the car drives like shit. Any help is greatly appreciated driving the car is making me depressed. The car looks good outside and inside but the comfort isnt there.

Where in Canada are you? I would suggest a couple things.

Meet up with another G70 owner and let them drive your car to see what's normal and what's not.

Go to another dealer and see what they say about the vibrations.

Try another set of wheels and tires to isolate the problem. Maybe the dealer would help with that.

Other than the vibrations, is it possible you just like cars that aren't sport orientated? The transmission is meant to shift more aggressive in sport mode.

Sounds like you got a bad one and have a crappy dealer. I have a 2021 and have not expeirecinced any issues whatsoever. Maybe try to find another dealer to take it to and get it diagnosed. Or trade it in for another (or another type of car if you don't think you'll ever be satisfied with a G70). I think those are your only options. Good luck.

If you think you have exhausted all remedies possible, now would be the time to bring your Genesis Regional Manager into the picture. Don’t just bail out and take a loss before trying all avenues.

Good idea to see if a dealer will temporarily switch wheels off a new G70 for you. Will quickly eliminate any wheel related issues so dealer can concentrate on other areas for correction. If vibration changes with speed, it’s something rotational related so only so many items to look at.

+1 on the wheels.

I had a vibration from the front develop shortly after I got it. This was at the same time I was working with the dealer to have all 4 wheels powder coated (famous peeling sport wheel issue).

It was the powder coat shop who reached out to let me know one of the wheels was "center bent". Meaning on a balancer, road force or traditional, the wheel would appear straight and would balance, but in reality, there was a wobble in the center of the wheel.

Center bent wheels are not repairable, nor are they warranty (theory was I must have hit a pothole), but the wheel shop found a perfectly straight used wheel, powder coated all 4 a the same time and car is now smooth!!

Oh, very interesting. I've never heard of that before. This has been something several owners have reported over the years. I wonder if it's a common factory detect...

Curious, were they able to test that on a conventional shop machine or was it like a specially used machine or something? I ask bc I swear this is what happened to my last car but everywhere I took it, they were like our balance test showed it's fine blah de dah blablahblah.

It was a machine at the wheel refiisher (looked different than a normal balancer). It spun the wheel without tire and had a digital reader.
