  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

OBD-II issue?

OBDII readers are sort of generic. Be sure you plug it in first, power it up, then turn the key on and it should read and provide you the OBDII generic codes set or show you no codes are stored.

Thanks. I tried that and got a connection error. Has anyone used a reader that they can recommend? Looking for something cheap if possible.

I have a Zurich ZR13. Medium priced at Harbour Freight. $149-$159 on sale. Connected just fine. I need to update the firmware so it can find my specific vehicle for there are some vehical specific menus it can access other than the generic OBDII menu.

Isn't there an option to do the vehicle diagnostics and it will show you the code on the screen?

Some vehicles do have on board diagnostics that will flash the engine service light or similar light a certain sequence that you count flashes to equal a code number. You generally touch two OBDII pins together or do a key on key off sequence to get in self diagnostic mode. I have no idea about Genesis though. If a Hyundai will do this Genesis probably will too so might be worth a Google search for those with no code reader.

It’s a paid Bluelink feature in the bluelink menu. Don’t think it works without a subscription.

The dealer menu in the Ultimate can do it too.
