Oil change G70 2 L

I've been extremely pleasantly surprised about how easy most of the filters are to change in the G70. Has anyone figured out a simple way to perform an oil change and filter change?

This is one respect in which my last two cars were superior. Both of them had cartridge filters that could be changed from the top and oil was easily sucked out.

I'm open to any suggestions that don't involve bringing the car to Genesis for every oil change.

Yeah, I've gotten spoiled by the top-side access cartridge-type oil filters on the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis V6s I've had. This 2.0T screw-on filter seems rather old-tech in comparison. No biggie though. I always wear nitrile gloves to keep that used motor oil off my hands. I buy them here: 5 mil Nitrile Powder-Free Gloves, 100 Pack, Large, Light Blue 5-mil is good for things like oil changes.

For the longest time, I used a simple 8-qt open-top drain pan that worked just fine for cars I owned. These days, however, oil capacity seems to be getting larger and larger, and filling that 8-qt pan almost full with 6-7qt of oil gets a little precarious to lift and pour into containers. So I went to an enclosed one that holds 15qt. I like it.

I don't have any problem with getting under the car. Been doing it for over 35yrs. On a nice day, it can be rather therapeutic. A good HD low-profile long-reach floor jack helps a lot. It's good to take the opportunity to look under the skirt of my cars at every oil change. Helps to catch stuff that don't always present themselves from the top of the engine bay.

Thanks for your reply. I see you live on the Gulf Coast. I imagine it's pleasant to change your oil most of the time. I live in far northern IL and would FAR prefer not to crawl under my car most of the time. Also, having to jack it up, then put on jack stands for safety, then remove the belly pan, changes a 15 minute job to over an hour. I guess I'll pay the $$ to have it changed for me.

I put mine on Rhino ramps, and labor wise, it's less than half an hour total. But I leave it draining until nothing comes out, and do other stuff inside the house in the mean time. MUCH more convenient than a dealer, and done 100% right. Will never use the free services.
