  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Oil Change

Thanks for the tips! I'm actually a bit nervous using ramps, as I had a minor disaster with them in my teen days trying to get an old '83 Cutlass Supreme up on a set by myself. Never used any since. This time I will make sure to draft my wife as a spotter.

Is yours the V8? Earlier, some were saying it takes 10 quarts. My drain pan might be a bit small. I'll definitely need to check it, and also make sure I have a 24mm socket.
No, I've got the 3.8 V6. And verify that socket size, I'm going off memory.

It came time to change the oil on my 2020 G90 V8. Exactly 1 year to the day it was last changed by the dealer. It was a pretty easy job. I'll reiterate what was already stated by others earlier in a little summary in case that's helpful to anyone.
  • 2 underbody panels to remove, one for filter and one for oil drain plug. Needs small flathead screwdriver for clips, 10mm for 4 screws.
  • Drain plug 17mm, torque specs 25-33 ft-lbs (According to Amsoil website). I torqued mine to 29.
  • Oil filter plug 6mm reverse hex (allen). Torque spec 10Nm (88.5 lb-in).
  • Oil filter cap 24mm. Torque spec 25Nm (18.5 lb-ft).
  • Oil filter element Hyundai p/n 26320 3F500. Includes new cap drain plug with O-ring, O-ring for filter cap, and aluminum crush washer for drain plug.
  • Need a drain pan that holds at least 10qts comfortably. It took 9.75qts to fill 3/4 up the dipstick crosshatch.
Torquing is optional, but I've seen what happens to plastic filter caps that were overtightened - they can break next oil change.

I used 2-piece ramps. They're around 52" long which made them very easy to drive up and bumper easily cleared them. I used the Project Farm wet towel on the floor trick to prevent them from sliding. Not sure if the trick is legit or just because my car is AWD, but they didn't budge. The nice thing for safety conscious (read: paranoid) people like myself is you can remove the incline part and put jackstands right under the jack points. I really liked that. They're really great budget ramps and I would recommend them. I don't think the brand is a sponsor so I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link to them, but they look like this. Meant to take an actual pic of my car on them, but totally forgot to.

That's a bit long in the tooth, no?
