  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am writing to add to the hundreds of customers who love Genesis, however Genesis needs to acknowledge the product when it comes to parts like a $200 oil sensore and labor of $1400 dollars be called what it is, which is a recall. Customers should not be force to pay $3000 plus for a Manufacturer defect that happens after 60,000 miles, man up and take care of this problem! One of the reasons someone would even pay for such and expensive vehicles is because they don't except family dollar part put on vehicle by the manufacturer, The worse part is 60,000 most warranty are up, so they knew they could get away with it. Which makes they a crook...

I'm confused... the oil sensor is covered under the 100K mile powertrain warranty, so why would you be charged for this?

Are you sure? Some bolt on stuff is not.

Unfortunately, it certainly is not. Who told you that it was?

Well, it's part of the power train.
Vehicles in the US have a 10y/100K powertrain warranty.
It does not make the car move, like pistons, bearings and internal components. It would be under the 5/60.

What is usually covered under a powertrain warranty?

What does a powertrain warranty include? It covers the parts of a car that provide power and make it move.

Genesis has a different definition of part of the power train than most of us do. If it's not inside the engine or transmission, it's not covered. The electronics and the oil pressure sensor are not covered and there are a number of posts here verifying that. Again, who said the oil pressure sensor was covered?

This is very surprising and concerning. The oil pressure sensor reporting a drop in pressure could cause the car to go into limp mode. This would clearly impact engine and powertrain operation, so it is concerning, with a car like this, that it would be excluded. I apologize for any misinformation, but being an engineer - this is a nitpick by Genesis/Hyundai.

As much as I love my car, each day I read this forum, I'm more convinced I should dump it and go back to the usual suspects.

The powertrain warranty also does not include the injectors, fuel pumps, coils, ...

I'm able to eliminate the problem. I won't own a car past the main warranty, in this case, 5/60. Goes for any brand. If you are serious about long term, extended warranty may be an option.
