  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2018 G80 Sport with 137k miles. My oil pressure light is on, went to a trusted mechanic and he said I have a leak that should be covered by a recall and the oil pump needs to be replaced. He suggested having it done at the dealership. Anyone had this issue or have advice on whether to spend the money to replace it or just move on and get a new car since I’m at 137k miles already? Thanks

Did he actually diagnose it, or is he just guessing based on a quick look? If he didn't connect a mechanical oil pressure gauge. then he is guessing, and is probably wrong. It's way more likely with this car that the oil pressure sensor is failed, than the fuel pump. Often, the pressure sensors do leak when they fail. Unfortunately, there is no recall on this (much as there should be). Replacement is still fairly expensive, as the intake and the fuel rails have to come out to get to it.

So if it were you would you schedule something at a genesis dealership and have it properly diagnosed? If it’s over $3k don’t think it’s worth fixing or just trading in on a newer vehicle? Thanks!

Probably about $2K. I would diagnose myself. If I couldn't do the replacement myself, I would use a good local independent instead of the dealer.
It's almost always cheaper to fix the car you have, but at some point you want something new or want some of the new features available, so you use this as an excuse to trade instead. That's valid reasoning as well.
