  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What’s up guys, I’m fairly new to this group and new to owning a genesis. My current car is a 2012 r spec sedan purchased November 4th 2017. 8 days into ownership it developed a knock and got the engine replaced with a used one with less mileage. No issue! So after 2000 miles my oil pressure switch decides to start malfunctioning.. ( throwing oil lights randomly, also very dimly light on idle sometimes) so after finding the sensor has started leaking it was time to replace. I had the sensor almost all the way out when the threads some how got weakened and snapped right off of the center timing cover. I have found the part number
213513f400
Has anyone has this happen to them or was this just a weird freak accident? There wasn’t any tension when I was loosening and the engine was still slightly warm. What should I expect this job might cost me?

Did you try an easy out?

The oil sensor is not stuck in the timing cover, it’s out, my problem is the threads where it screws in to snapped so now another sensor can not be screwed in and it has to be replaced

Do you mean the threaded portion on the bottom of the sensor broke off? Nothing to grab them? Then Yes, that is why Gunkk suggested an easy out. They are made to extract broken bolts and pipe fittings. If the threads are stripped, you need to Heli-coil it.

No, that’s not what I mean. The front timing cover has to be replaced because where the sensor screws in has snapped off. The sensor is out, full in one piece. Along with broken parts of the timing cover. The timing cover cracked and broke off where the sensor screws in so another sensor can not be screwed in. The sensor is not the issue. It’s the timing cover

No the threads are gone.. lol. The sensor is not snapped off inside timing cover. I know what you both mean but no.. the timing cover is damaged and needs to be replaced because it cracked and a piece broke off where the sensor goes in. The sensor is out in one piece no problem
