  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dealer called me as soon as a '14 came in. We went, we saw we drove...we liked! On the outside not much changed other than the tail lights and the fog lights are now led. Now the inside is, whoa, different and very luxurious. Honestly, the interior make the '11-'13 look cheap, and old. They use thicker leather with piping on the seats. The plastic buttons are of a higher quality, actually the entire interior seems to be of a higher quality. The dash and instrument cluster is definitely a step up. The inside just feels more solid and better made. The wheels in my opinion are butt ugly, wish they would have left them chrome. Its still quiet as a tomb in the inside. The ride is still floaty and sport mode is notably stiffer and really sport like. The bad...the warranty is now 3 yr/ 36,000 miles!

I believe that the 3 yrs / 36 months is for free scheduled maintenance, and that the warranty remains the same (as it is for all Hyundai Vehicles).

No sir, I asked specifically....and its definitely 3/36. Its on the sticker. Also during the 36k or 3yrs warranty period, the maintenance is included.

What was the sticker??

Re: Warranty - another uninformed dealer employee. Here is link to 2014 Equus info on the Hyundai USA site. 10 yr. 100,000 mile warranty is same as other Hyundai cars in U.S.https://www.hyundaiusa.com/equus/features.aspx
He claimed the 3yr / 36K mile warranty was on the sticker (in addition to what dealer told him). As I mentioned above, I suspect that was reference to the free maintenance period and not the warranty.

However, this is a HMA (Hyundai Motor America) warranty for cars sold in the US. I don't know what the Canadian or other country warranty is for Hyundai's. Each marketing organization can choose their own warranty terms, which usually are subject to government terms and restrictions, so they may not be exactly uniform in all jurisdictions.

Im gonna go back to the dealer, its not too far away, and double check. As sure as I am alive, he told both of us, "no more 5/60k". But, ive been lie to before. I will take a pic of the sticker, where it has in bold 3yrs/36k. I was disappointed. I didn't see anywhere on the sticker that said 5/60...only 3/36, but that doesnt mean anything, I will see when I go back.

Since when do you ever believe what a car salesman tells you? They are not always lying, but not all salesman are well-educated, nor do many of them even care about cars.

There are a bunch of different warranties:
  • Paint, batteries, etc
  • Audio/video
  • New Car (aka bumper to bumper)
  • Emission System (mandated by Government in US)
  • Rust through
  • Drivetrain (original owner only)
They probably are not going to list them all on the sticker.

You probably don't speak "cars salesman." Let me translate that for you (I don't think you can translate it on Google):

"I have some 2012 and/or 2013 Equus units that I really need to get rid of, so I am trashing the 2014 warranty to encourage you to buy my out-dated stock, so I don't get stuck with these 2012/2013 models and lose my ass."

Tell him to look at Hyundai's own web site: 3/36 is for scheduled maintenance; the limited warranty is still 5/60.

Don't beat yourself up. The salesman may have thought he was telling the truth about the warranty, but was confusing it with the new service coverage (which is stupid on their part).
Or, as suggested, he was trying to move a 2013.
Either way, on a lease it doesn't matter. For a purchase it might.

My lawyer just bought a 2014 ultimate. The inside is nice and the head up display is nice, other than that they took out the frig, the massage seats.

The big screen is nice. None of that is worth another 10K.

I am keep my 2012.
