Outside Mirror Movement

Hi all--

A question regarding the movement of the outside mirrors when shifting into reverse....do the mirrors ONLY move (again, when in reverse) when the mirror toggle switch is either to the left or to the right (as opposed to in the center), or are they supposed to BOTH move downward when shifted into reverse, and the toggle switch for the mirrors is in the center. I could have sworn that's the way it was the first few days I had the car (I've only had it one week), but the toggle switch on the door panel HAS TO BE either left or right for the respective mirror to angle downward upon being in reverse. Any thoughts?

For mine when the switch is in the left position both mirrors move down when in reverse. Neither mirror moves when the switch is in the middle and only the right one moves when the switch is in the right position.

I believe the manual says the Rear View mirrors will operate as follows: Switch Left - Both Mirrors, Switch Middle - Neither Mirrors will operate, and Switch Right - Right Mirror.

What you quoted is correct. For some reason I made the incorrect assumption that the mirrors (both) turned downward with the switch in mid-stream. Guess I was dreaming...but I've done that before! While at lunch today, I took particular notice of the very thing you describe, which is correct.

My 2010 manual p 4-36 says Switch Left/Right - Both Mirrors, Switch Middle - Neither Mirrors

And that's how they work. I would rather it be like you said.
