  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Early yesterday morning taking care of the few things my 2010 Genesis Sedan over heated from what I can tell it was a heater hose as the steam and water was in the back of the engine and not from the front radiator hoses. As soon as I saw the stem and smelled the coolant I pulled over and turn the engine off. She's now at the dealer and lets see what they come back with. Is it me or is it just odd that such a new Genesis would have hose fail like this.

Its a 2010. Almost 4 yrs old.

Unknown miles.

Your prob the first to post this problem. Just rare no biggie nocar is 100% the same from the factory.

I wouldnt sound the alarm just yet.

Hell some dealers spray a shiny coating on the engine bay. Who knows if something like this caused a leak in the radiator hose

Ppp

Sounds more like you blew a hose than actually overheated.

The issue sounds like it comes under the heading of general maintenance.
Hoses, belts, bulbs, relays etc. etc.. go out all the time...
A 2010 (by age alone) should by now be on it's second set of belts, hoses, hose clips and possibly new coolant & hydraulic fluids.. Don't forget the radiator flush..Preventive maintenance..On any vehicle is the way to go.........

Not so sure about all that. Coolant, probably, hoses, belts, hose clips.... naaaa. And what do you mean by "hydraulic" fluids? I assume tranny fluid, but, maybe there are some hydraulics of which I'm unaware. And which bulbs should have been replaced? Genesis isn't a Lexus, but it's no Yugo either.

Hi Shagnat,
hydraulics = Brake & Steering Fluids..
I did not say specific bulbs, I just said bulbs sometimes go out & need replacing.. As far as belts, hoses, clips etc.. are concerned, everyone chooses their own timetable..
Here's to happy and safe journeys😎

I've got 9 years on my Cheby truck. Still has original belts, hoses, bulbs and radiator fluid. I had to replace the original battery after 8 years. I did change out all the fluids at 50K miles. Still runs strong.

But yes, it sounds like you blew a hose. ;)
