  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking for some info and help. So the other day, my grandaughter had turned on the passenger seat heat while driving her to school, and after she got out of the car by the time I got home had odor of burning plastic, metal smell and seat back was very hot. immediately turned it off. Now am starting to remove the seat cover and cushioning but am leery due to the airbag system in place on the side of the upper back RH side.

1. Is there anything I need to do to turn off the airbag system so it does not activate while working on this area? Very hard to find any info on this set of heating elements, where to buy them.
2. I plan on selling the car soon anyway as we just got a 2023 Palisade Calligraphy, so if I could de-activate the back heating element, that would be ok too... [ still need to figure out how to get the burnt plastic smell out of the car tho, :\ ]

Weird!

Probably could pull the fuse for them, I'd think - in a pinch.

I agree pulling a fuse is an option, still trying to keep the functionality of the bottom heat though. The burnt foam smell is hideous, might be better to just replace the whole damn thing. Looking for replacement components from used/wrecked cars needle in haystack too, hard to find the light tan perforated leather, heated, cooled seats.
