  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So a lot of you are lease guys and I am concerned that with the new face lift the aftermarket for the current model will not last long. New motor, new design, new features, etc, should I be concerned that the aftermarket for the 19 and 20 model years will never grow?

I wouldn’t worry about it. There will still be a lot of focus on getting the current platform into the 10s as far as performance. As far as body parts like lips, skirts, and diffusers I think the market is pretty much as far as it will get besides going full carbon.
im not worried about my 19 at all. I’ve basically got it fully bolted tho already haha I bought my car tho as I planned to have it for 5-7 years. And if performance is truly a route you wanna go I’d look into other platforms besides this one. I love my car but I’ve put about 4500$ in performance parts in my car or maybe more. And it now barely runs with a stock m4 on kill mode. But on the other hand I spent a lot leas than an m4 even with all my

My advice would be to make a decision based on what you want in the long term. If you are the type of person who really wants the newer models with updated engines and tech; then just lease your rides so that you can easily upgrade to newer models every few years or so. If you like to own your car flat out and can live without the having the latest engines or tech then just buy the car. I will take it a step farther and recommend buying a slightly used model to save money.

The aftermarket support will usually be stronger with older engines than the newer engines due to the time it takes to crack the code in newer engines. However, turbo engines are usually pretty easy to "trick" into making more boost, so turbo engines usually gain aftermarket support very soon after release.

Plus, most luxury cars will never have "strong" aftermarket support due to the cost of buying the car which means the usual type of buyers of luxury cars do not really mod them as much like a younger crowd who drive Honda Civics. Genesis will have a few tuners for sure, but not a large amount.

Stock M4 is around 12 flat? I would say A) That's pretty dang fast and B) Your probably faster than that now, no?

I ran a stock m4 like a week ago. Was pretty much dead even with it. I think I beat it by a half a car length

OP, the reduced resale value for the pre-facelift cars will affect you whether you lease or buy. It always does, whenever there is a styling change. It's like trying to beat the stock market, because cars always age and are re-styled and get new engines/drivetrains.

Although the effect will be proportionately smaller the longer you keep the car. In fact there is no effect at all except on paper until you sell it.

Agreed but there is something to be said for sticking with a car where you know the problems or Especially if there aren’t any vs getting into something where you just hope everything is going to be as good or better than what you are leaving behind.
