  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I got catless downpipes with o2 sensor defoulers from imr america installed about 2 weeks ago. I was just driving today and went into limp mode so I thought it was just overboost or something. When I restarted the car I got a CEL. Took it to autozone and I got a P0049 code for “turbo turbine overspeed”. Anyone able to help me figure out what it is?

EDIT: CEL went away just now. Car drives fine now. Still wondering what the cause of the issue is. I don’t have gapped spark plugs yet and I’m running jb4 but 99% of the time I drive on map 0.

I just had the check engine light come on…put in my OBD scanner… code P0049 came up. Have you had any further issues? I don’t have a JB4 but I did put in HKS 45 mil plugs…left them at the factory spec .28 out of the box.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
That code is for the speed/boost sensor, but could be its wiring too. Make sure rodents are not having fun with your car. But yes, sometimes it could be a totally unrelated issue, like your plugs. I'd go back to stock plugs, erase the code, and see what happens. Hopefully no more issues. Good luck.

I’m fully straight piped including catless downpipes on the jb4 running e30 so here’s what fixed it for me. I gapped the oem spark plugs to .024 but the hks ones should be fine at .028. I also got EWG connectors to change the FF setting in the jb4 to around 40. Both of those combined helped me get rid of limp mode and the CEL. My guess is the EWG connectors got rid of them and the spark plugs are just good to do for the tuned car. No issues currently

I got the p0049 code on 2 separate occasions and in both cases it went away on its own after a couple hours. For me it was fixed through EWG connectors and gapped plugs. I’m not sure which one for sure since I did them both at the same time but I’m guessing EWG fixed it

I woke up this morning and the CEL was gone. Drove my car to work, turbos engaging like normal. I did a scan with my OBD scanner and the code still comes up. Anyone run an OBD scan to see if the P0049 code is still there? I don’t run a JB4. This did happen before, I had my G70 for three months and I tried to accelerate into the fast lane and felt the vehicle go into “limp mode” without a CEL. At the time I only had two ADDw1 BOV’s and ADDw1 dual catch cans.

Since then:

Tekada cold air intakes
JUN B.L. EVC exhaust
JUN B.L. mid pipes.
and I’ve add HKS 45 mil plugs(.28)

Pretty much bolt-on parts…no tune of any sort…

It’s the exhaust that causes it from what I’ve read. I’m not sure how to fix it in your case aside from going back to stock or getting a jb4 with ewg wires

I did not put pipes or a JB4 or plugs and never got a code. :p

Sucks that is goes into limp mode. Try tossing a few Viagra into the gas tank 🙌

Nah I am teasing but I hope if I ever do mods like that I do not get that.
