  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yes, they did find the issue and will be fixing it this week. The thermostat itself was fine, just some small part was getting to hot. Thanks for checking:)
Hey Vira, is there by chance a way you could tell me what the small part that they replaced was? Just had the same code thrown on my G80 this morning...

Hi, I believe what they did is just replaced the thermostat itself in my case. I would attach the ticket I had, but this website did not let me(

Thank you for the reply! I have got a new thermostat and gaskets on order and will be having a go at this on my 3.8. Lots to take apart and put aside, but far from the worst operation I've come across.

I am very sorry to hear that. I hate when smt breaks but unfortunately it comes with luxury of having a car :(

Hello, I went to do an oil change couple days ago on my g80 Sport and the check engine light appears a day after. After checking with obd the code shows p0597 Thermostat Heater Control Circuit / Open. I have a suspicious that the guys at the dealer might of done something on purpose seeing that the lady drives the car and they thought I am dumb enough not to notice. But this is just my suspicion. Which I could be wrong. Google says that there is possibility of needing a thermostat replacement. I have about 42,000 miles on my G80, could that thermostat really fail thaaaaat fast?? Or it could be something that was done during oil change? My husband suggests I take it back and let them do the check up...Did anyone else had similar issues or maybe you can guide me in the right direction?

That’s so weird, I just had the same issue with my 2018 Genesis sport 3.3t

Took it to the dealer after I discovered the lumbar support doesn’t work. (2 days after I bought it CPO) I also had them change 2 dash speakers as they distorted. Had them change my oil and had a check engine light when I got the car back. They cleared it and said it was just a light from the “seat” they were inspecting. Light came on following morning and threw the same code as you. Now it’s at the dealer getting a new thermostat, seat motor, and speakers. It’s been about 4 days now...

See attached. (Doesn't really say much though...)

Did you also get your P0597 code fixed. My car just brought that code up too. My dealer thinks it's the pcm. They asked if my car has over heated but it has not. I have the 3.3tt

So what was exactly replaced and wrong with your car? My car just threw the P0597 code and i have a appointment at the dealership. You said the thermostat itself is fine. So what exactly did they replace? Thanks

I have been having the same issue on my 2018 G80 Sport, with 38,250 miles. Started with a check engine light (the comes on and off randomly). Checked the codes and got the same as you did. Genesis says it is out of warranty (5 months over the in-service date) and would not reconsider given the low miles. They say it is NOT a major part, so it would not fall under the federally mandated emission control equipment extended warranty, even though the local repair shops say that they should be covering this. Dealer says this will be a $875 repair.

How did your issue work out?

See post 27 above. It is the thermostat. Even though the thermostat is mostly working, the heater coil (the part that lets the PCM control engine temperature) has failed. It is also leaking very slightly.
