  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all. FNG here with a tire question. I just bought a pre-owned '09 Sedan (Silver 3.8l w/Tech) and I accepted it with P235/50ZR-18 2 x Ecsta 4Xs on the front and 2 x Ecsta Platinums on the rear. The sale included all four shoes balanced and a factory alignment. A legal tint all around makes 'cozy'. The boss of the house (wifey) now wants her '13 Silver ES350 tinted... no surprise.

The car drives well... the Lexicons kick butt.. there's good life left on all four shoes.

70 hwy miles under the belt and I think the mix of Kumhos sound noisier than the Yoko AS350 I ran on an ES330. Plus its hard to tell if the fronts or the rears are kicking up the decibels? So, I'm thinking NEW rubber all around.

Here's the eeniee, meenie, minee, moe!

Ecsta 4X? Ecsta Platinums? 235/50R-18? 255/45R-18? A 'wider' tire is desirable! According to web, negligible MPH difference with the 255/45R vs stock. I live in Georgia. So rain/dry is the predominant mix... some cold temps... but everything shuts down when the pretty stuff falls out the sky.

Has any member here put the wider rubber on stock 18s? Any rubbing issues? I don't want a staggered setup. Neither do I want to mod anything. Is the wider tire WEIGHT an issue for the sedan? I think the stock setup defaults to a 39mm offset?

Thanks in advnce

You would be fine running the rubber itself. It would look really stupid on the wheels and would be interesting to see.

Do what you want, but, can I ask the business case for running wider tires on the stock wheels?

Great!!! The oxymoron "stupid" and "interesting" woke me out of my stupor.
