  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anybody used this product (http://drcolorchip.com/) to repair paint chips?
I have a a mark on the passengers rear door that I think will take a little more than a dab with the touchup paint pen.

I don’t really care for the finished product using the touchup pen supplied by my Hyundai dealer anyway and these little chips drive me nuts, because I know where they are and my eye always goes to them whenever I look at the car even though nobody else can spot them unless I point them out.

How about it TJ, how do you handle paint chips? I would appreciate hearing from anyone.

So far I've only used the dealer supplied pen. I looked around for the color (interlagos yellow) at other places and didn't find it.

Funny thing (I think) about the coupe is that even if I'd found a bra or had the clear stuff put on the front or some other option that would have kept the chips off the front of the car the most annoying chips would still be in the car.

I have two on the fender above the driver side front wheel - up above the roll. I have one on the roof (got it coming home the other day from work - I heard it hit but have no idea where it came from as I was well behind the nearest car in front of me). I have a couple on the hood just past midways on the hood towards the windshield. I din't know if its the slope of the front end or just my luck but my chips are in different places than I get them with IROC Z28.

Yeah, the factory/dealer purchased pen is pretty weak/thin. It takes several coats to begin to build it up (both color and depth).

This site (http://www.automotivetouchup.com/touch_up_paint_matched.aspx) can supply you with the color (interlagos yellow) in ½ oz. bottles and they also have clear coat in ½ oz. bottles.
They have “How to Videos” too, but I never had much success with the dab-a-do touch up paint.
It just never seems to flatten out even after buffing a few days after application. That’s why the Dr. Color chip custom paint touch up looked interesting.
I hate to spend $30 bucks to find out if it works like in the videos. I was hoping someone on the site had experience with the product or could provide a solution other than going to a body shop for a small chips.

Just got this kit in the mail yesterday - tried it today on wife's car with mixed results. Seems to work well on little chips, but not on deep scratches. It is not easy to apply - you have to be very patient.

I'm glad I tried on the wife's car first. She didn't care either way, so it was a win-win situation.

I've used Dr.Colorchip and been happy with the results. You do have to be patient and it may take a couple tries on top of each other but it works alot better than dealer touchup bottles. If you have the time and patience-you'll be well rewarded.
I questioned paint for my white '12 Genesis sedan but they don't have it yet.
