  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys, I have been thinking about painting my calipers for awhile now, and was looking through some of the past threads about you guys painting them but........I have a question that I may have missed and sorry if this has been asked, but has anyone thought about or know where to get the genesis "wings" as a decal or sticker to put on the calipers after painting them instead of brembo or whatever other stickers you may put on them ???

Good question - you'd need a high-temp decal so it won't burn off with the heat the brakes generate. One idea may be stenciling the logo and painting it on. You could probably design a decal for high-temp vinyl and have them custom made, maybe make a batch and sell the rest to other owners.

Hmmm yea thats a good thought. I'll have to do some research on doing that and seeing where I can go with it. Thanks !!!

Painting calipers is very simple. Eastwood sells kits for about $35 or so. Much cheaper are kits from Autozone. I tried both suppliers and found no difference. Something to keep in mind: The fancy painted calipers seen on Corvettes and Porsches have a very smooth finish. If you intend to have this finished look you will have to grind/sand the caliper casting smooth. The front caliper on the 4.6 is already smooth, but the rear caliper is in an as-cast form.
You need not remove the caliper. You need only paint the surface that can be seen, and this can be easily done with the caliper on its rotor. Of course if you want to completely cover the caliper with a new color it is probably easier to remove the caliper from the rotor, but still advise that you keep it connected to the brake line.
As for brake decals, the only ones I have been able to find are Brembo decals, which are readily available on eBay.

Good info.
I also don't like the fact that the calipers are different in color on the 4.6
I might paint either side to match, but still can't decide if I want the front to be silver, or the rear to be black.
Decisions, decisions...

I'm really digging the Black, so I might do my rear set black. Matches the black car nicely.

Hey guys,

If your looking for caliper paint we do sell the G2 paint. They are glossy finish and are a brush on type of paint. We can get them in just about any color you want. $34 + Shipping PM me if you guys are interested.

$34 for paint? Any hi-temp spray paint will do just fine.
Or get the BREMBO red calipers from the Track Coupe.

If you can get the Brembo Calipers great! They are a good upgrade but how much does that cost?
Well $34 may sound expensive for paint but in the pack comes with a brush, brake cleaner and the actual paint. The G2 paints are rated to go up to 950 degrees where most high temp paints are rated at 400. The brush on type of paints are good because you really dont need to mask anything like the cylinders. If you can find them cheaper let me know and we will revisit our pricing.

Are the Brembo calipers from the coupe a direct fit?
Doesn't it have a different mounting point?
It'd be awesome to have the Brembo ones from the coupe.

Did mine with the G2 paint, Id just say purchase another brush because some of the bristles come loose with the supplied brush...

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
There's a user here that goes by the name of Tim Sly that has a pretty neat set of Genesis wings on his calipers. If memory serves, he got them off of etsy. Here is a link to his post, but I'm a bit lazy at the moment to go digging through the whole thread: Winged Calipers

As far as painting the calipers, just pick up a can or two of VHT high-temp paint in your favorite flavor. Best advice is to actually pull the caliper away from your rotor, clean it off as best as you can using brake cleaner and then alcohol and masking off all of the important bits to include the surrounding fender and suspension, etc.. give it a good few coats, and allow to dry for a bit before re-installing everything. Easy-peasy.
