  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently painted my car grille, I really don't like the silver plastic look. If it was brushed aluminum like the rest of the trim, that would elevate the look of the car, silver plastic...not so much. The silver plastic also makes the car look dated.
I went a bit of a different direction than what I have seen on the forum. Seems like the most popular way is to paint the whole thing black. I thought it would look clean if the silver outer edge was matched to the body and the grille slats were black. This extends the hood/bumper and makes the grill slats look recessed in the bumper. Inspiration came from cars like Aston Martin, Maserati, Jaguar etc. There are actually quite a few cars that utilize this stye.

I think it makes it look more modern and up to date. It also looks very oem, the average person wouldn't notice that the grille is not stock. I used satin black if anyone is curious (bumper paint) for a bit of a sheen. It doesn't convey well in my potato quality pictures but it matches the black trim very well and looks very clean in person.

Doesn't look bad, I'm guessing you don't have the radar up front?

Just wanted to comment on your thread since it's the primary one I find when looking up the black grille topic. I think with every color it really makes an improvement on the look, even more so when the grille surround is also blacked out. Found a picture from a shop in Washington that does some work and it turns out really nice in the event you wanted to add it to yours.
