  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is this real or fake news? If true, does it only apply to one that completely shatters away?? Or will it cover one that has broken tracks or rattles and such?
Panoramic Sunroof Explodes

That's too bad.. ..'cause I really wanted to buy one of these.
It's like part of my brain says; Avoid like the plague... ..while the other says; What a stunning looking car!!

If it's still under manufacturer warranty there's no reason not to buy them. The lawsuit only deals with extending the warranty for those that aren't covered.

5 year 60,000 miles... To add to the problem.. I have a long gravel driveway off of a paved road. I can only imagine the structural stress this vehicle will encounter.. I better settle for a hard top.

I did have a dealer quote me the Platinum Wrap just yesterday. I'll copy and paste his reply below.. The price he quoted was a real deal breaker.
The 10 year 120,000 mile Platinum for $1,500.00 sounds like a decent deal. It looks like I need to shop around for this too.
Can someone have this quoted directly through Hyundai with a VIN of a CPO?

"I had the business office write up a quote for you and there are basically two packages you can purchase with the wraparound warranty you have requested of 10 yrs/100K:

Gold - 10/100K = $2758
Platinum - 10/100K = $2939"

Don't quote me on this, but I'm almost positive you can get the CPO wrap from any dealership in the country even after you've purchased the car and taken it home. You might want to find a thread on the topic here and bump it. I think there are certain dealerships that consistently offer better prices on the extended warranties -- Jim Ellis is one dealership that comes to mind.

This was one of the first ones that came up but it's a little dated: When can you buy Hyundai Extended Warranty?

Thanks Kon, I'll continue to research....

Never had a problem with any of mine, but, I never open them either. I think that can make a difference, at least with the squeaks and rattles that seem to pop up.

It is likely that I would not open it in order to avoid any such issues. ..But my wife may think otherwise..

As for the Platinum wrap warranty... Am I right to assume it has to be a CPO to start with?

I would gladly pay $1,500 for a cpo platinum wrap. I was also quoted $3,000 at purchase which is usurous.

I paid $1750 for my CPO. They quoted something like $4500 to start and then kept coming back again and again with lower numbers. Now I sort of wish I had gotten the wheel/tire warranty as well. I may check to see if I can add that.

Okay, that's much closer to the $1,500.00 mark than what I was quoted.

Thanks for the reply.

A few years ago prices for the HPP warranties and the CPO wrap (which are pretty much the same thing) were cheaper but of late Hyundai has raised prices on those warranties.

I have a 2015 Ultimate I leased and decided to purchase the car when the lease was up and had 24k miles on it at the time. I did a lot of research and calling around to find the best price on a HPP Platinum 10yr/100k warranty. The CPO wrap is pretty much the same thing.

Jim Ellis in Atlanta had been mentioned in the past as having good prices but not any more apparently. I was quoted $2800 for the 10yr/100k warranty and they said the warranty would start from the date the car was originally sold or leased.

I finally found a Hyundai dealer in (Jerrys Hyundai) in Weatherford Texas near Fort Worth that had the best prices. I was quoted $1898 versus $2800 that Jim Ellis had quoted. Technically the warranty I was sold was a 7yr/75k warranty but the warranty started from the day I would buy the warranty, so in my case in reality that was equal to a 10yr/100k warranty that would start the day the car was originally sold or leased.

There was a longer warranty offered which was 10yr/100k from the day I would buy the warranty. However I declined that as I know I would not keep the car another 10 years out.

Regardless of whether you want a HPP or CPO wrap Jerrys Hyundai should have the best prices. The salesman that sold me the policy is "Brannon Adkisson". The dealership number is 817-596-5000

Thanks hrdc69 for taking the time to share that information.
I will keep them in mine for sure...

I'm in the market for a used 2015/16 and I'm curious about extended warranty options. I don't think I have ever bought an extended warranty on anything ever, but I know luxury cars tend to have more issues than the econoboxes I'm used to. My current 2013 Soul has 80k miles and has never had a repair that wasnt normal maintenance. (Tires/Brakes/Oil Changes)...

Anyhow -

Hyundai Protection Plan - I see that you have to have 1000miles/1month left on the original warranty to purchase - Do you know if you have to be the original owner?
Hyundai CPO Wrap - Is there any real difference between this and HPP (aside from the car having to be CPO)? I assume its cheaper than the standard HPP?

My understanding is that on either of these you do not have to purchase them from the same dealer that the car was bought from and they are recognized by any Hyundai dealer. Is that Correct?
