  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm writing this because Hyundai technical assistance told my dealer that they have never had problems with the parking assist function.
My problem was an intermittent false alarm. I keep my car garaged and there were no problems whatsoever until and unless the car was parked in hot sun for more than an hour. Then, the parking assist alarm would engage intermittently.
My dealership at first could not duplicate the condition, and Hyundai tech told dealership that they have never had problems with parking assist. No abnormality was evident in dealerships testing. I left the car in the dealership's hot sun, and then was able to convince the tech a problem existed. Tech assistance determined that it was the right ultra sonic senors that needed replacement. Personally, I think they were just guessing. My guess is that the program controller located in the trunk is the culprit. Whatever, I will drive the car and see if it is fixed.
For your reference should you have the same problem, have the dealership contact tech assistance referring to my case #4523317 as a starting point.

Thanks for the update. Very informative as always Rey.

Rey,
Had the same problem once with a Toyota Tundra truck. It was a sensor as well, only happened after a heavy rain storm.

We are having a false alarm with the parking assistance also, but it happens just about every time we come to a stop. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the sensors, or do they just have to be replaced?

Had the same problem, they replaced the sensor, has not come back the problem

i've had that problem once. I felt like it was a very hot day and I had parked in the sun. I don't remember it very well, but I'll be aware of it now.

I parking in my garage at home and a underground garage at work. So i rarely leave the car out in the sun.

I've just started to experience similar.

99% of false alarm problems are bad sensors. The parking alarm only functions under a certain speed (3 mph?) so the false alarms will stop once the car is moving above that speed.

Anybody know if these sensors are covered up to the 60K warranty runs out? I'm at 56K right now.
