  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a Sedan 3.8 with the premium navigation system but not the tech package. Question: Can the forward camera be added to my system? Can I buy an aftermarket camera and plug it in the the display?

I don't know for sure, but Parking Assist are the tone nags that tell you something is behind/in-front-of you, but the camera may be separate? (Assuming you mean backwards camera, not forward camera).

I frankly don't really see the need for Parking Assist with the camera. I have only had my car a few hundred miles, but it mostly stays off in my car.

I find the sensors on both ends very useful.

I use the front sensors every time I pull into the garage. At the first beep, I know that my passenger can cross between the front of the car and the cabinets there.

When backing, it is a lot better to listen and look around than to watch the display for clearance from the row behind me. I do use the camera for backing down my kid's curving driveway.

The front camera is available in other markets. Can it be retrofit?

Personally I would love it as it show side angle views that are great for getting close to curbs.

I know the DIS system (tech package) has an option for you to turn on a front camera, I'm sure there is a plug-in somewhere in the car for that, however I don't think you can just plug and play with the base system.

Really? Where in the menue?

Under variant settings in the engineering menu. The KDM version of the Genesis is loaded compared to the US version. To think if they actually brought all those features over for a premium, it would be still be one hell of a car...

I do have the rear camera and I guess my real question is if I can get the forward camera like the Tech package has for my premium nav system. It would be great if it could work like a plug and play. I would assume that all the display units are the same with modules that could be added?? Does anybody have this info??? As you know the front of the car is really low and my concern is running into a curb.

I have the Tech Package on a 2010 V8 (built Feb 2, 2010) and I haven't seen a forward camera. Could be there though and I just don't know about it; only had my car 10 days or so.

I like having both front and rear parking assistance, but I would prefer the font sensors to be only active when going forward and the rear ones only active when in reverse.

Although I have the sensors, and the rear view camera (love that camera), they are not something I need when I parallel park. Yes, PARALLEL PARK. Its a wonder to me how many people don't know how to parallel park, and I watch them all the time going back and forth, trying to get into a parking spot. I am one of the few people that does not have a problem with Parallel Parking. Four times out of five, I squeeze in on the very try, and once out of five, it takes me two manuvers of the car.

The rear camera is used by me only when I back up and know I am close to the car behind me. The front sensors are used often though, because the front of the car is so low, it often hits the wheel stops in parking lots if I don't park the car a short distance from the stops.
