  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Drove to the mall, in my 2010 V6 with electronic parking brake, got my groceries loaded, , and the car wouldnt start. The parking brake was fully on, and I kept trying to get it to its normal position to no avail. I tried the usual stunts, putting the fob into the slot, tried turning the parking brake control on and off, etc to no avail. A warning light showed a side view of the car with a key inside it which stayed on.Then just as a friend showed up to get me home I pushed the start button and it started right up and the brake pedal became loose. I know there is some weird set up involving the rear brake lights parking brake and starter. Can anyone tell me what I should have done because I have no idea how or why I was suddenly able to start it. I do not like driving cars that are in two minds as to whether they are going to start. Also a few months back I couldnt get it out of drive into park and I don't remember what was done to fix it, but I do know the parking brake was involved.
Thanks, Stu

You had your foot on the brake pedal when you tried to start it the first time?

Did you ever have the brake switch recall done?

Accooding to Hyundai's computer all the recalls are done. The first time I tried to start it I noticed the pedal was fully locked. My local mechanic said there are two solenoids of switches that were misaligned on the brake rod. Sounded like gobbledygook but it hasn't done it since. I emailed a reply to you several days ago, but apparently it never went through.
