Passenger Side Mirror Won't Open

My passenger's side mirror will not open. The driver's side mirror is fine.. I understand it is the gear inside but cannot locate just the gear itself. All sources tell me that I can only buy the entire assembly. Anyone have information on if and where I can purchase only the gear?

I've tried the tutorial and I cannot get the plastic trim separated to get to the internals. I removed the mirror from car, got the glass off and removed the 3 screws and that is as far as I can get.

Any advice or tricks to get this fixed?
