However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Do you have to pay for the update to the SD card to get carplay?

Go to www.myhyundai.com and register your car. There was updates free there that may apply to your car. If you want the navigation update, yes you pay at www.mapnsoft.com

MY car is registered at MyHundai... I just bought it about 7 weeks ago. I did the VIN clear and all that jazz. From MyHyundai page for my Genesis, I click on the Hyundai resources quick link, then Multimedia and Navigation. From what I have read, the software/firmware download should show up on the right of that screen, but there is nothing there. Is it possible that my version is up to date? Here is a pic of the current versions.

Thoughts?

Version 8 seems old. Check the map version at Mapnsoft. You may be up to date on the other stuff. If you have an Ultimate you cannot get carplay or Android Auto . It is not compatible with the hardware.

does your car have the 9.2" screen with the jog dial on the console, aka an Ultimate? if so the carplay upgrade isn't going to work for you, only works on the 8" basic radio. based on the picture it appears you have the 9.2" screen as the 8" has a second "border" around the screen to fill in the gap.

different hardware, pre 2018 carplay is not compatible with the 9.2" system.

you can update your maps and the firmware to 12.5 by purchasing it from here: 2015 Hyundai Genesis(JogDial/Premium) Map Update-125SP2DH+USB

but you won't get carplay, it does not work on pre-2018 Ultimate models with the upgraded sound system.

I do not have the Ultimate (which is probably the only mistake I made with purchasing) and have the 8" screen. Not sure why the software updates are not appearing in MyHyundai. Can someone who has downloaded verify that I am looking in the correct place on MyHyundai?

Just dealt with this for two weeks. They don't allow it to be downloaded anymore. It is not allowed to even get access to the download.

I bought the MapNSoft update for $145 and now have Carplay in my 2016 Genesis (Touch only)

Well that sounds like a bunch of crap. There is so much info all of the internet about how awesome it is that Hyundai provided this at no cost to owners. I just bought a CPO 2016 Hyudai Genesis and will be fighting them on charges. IMO, the navigation system should have been brought up to date by Hyundai prior to selling the car.

Not sure if I will win this battle, but I am definitely going to try. I will report back on my success or failure!

Been fighting this battle for two weeks with blue link (also purchased 2016 CPO two weeks ago as well). Received a call from the higher ups that the engineers said you have to call apple to approve the carplay. It's is no longer supported only Android Auto. Blew my mind and just purchased the newest mapnsoft. Now I have Carplay and loving it; Just with a lighter wallet haha

If you get a breakthrough let me know so I can fight too for a reimbursement!

If you have a CPO I would agree it should have been done. Tell the dealer you expect it to be done at no charge. You can also tell them I said so. That will get them moving!

i always thought mapnsoft advertising aa and cp as new features in their updates odd since the update was free from hyundai...now that hyundai removed the update it appears they caved to mapnsoft to force people to pay for the upgrade. paying $145 for useless in car map update just to use aa/cp doesn't make sense. if someone still has an update image maybe it can be hosted somewhere.

Seconded that. I've just bought a 2015 CPO Genesis with Tech 3 weeks ago, and the dealer told me Android Auto/CarPlay is a free update. I asked them to download it on their computer (using my MyHyundai account) but it failed with "This update is currently unavailable, please try again later". So we figured the website was having problems and it should all be good in a couple of days. A week or two later and there's no update any more, even the button is gone. It's funny, I wanted Android Auto precisely to get rid of the stupid built-in maps, and now I'd have to pay for the map update just to have Android Auto?

it's not just a "map" update, its a firmware update, there is a lot more changes than just the maps.

has anyone tried calling Hyundai Customer Support to verify that the Download is no longer free?

I am also curious if my old version (I believe it was 11.5) from my 2018 would in fact install Carplay/Android onto an older car (seeing as mine came with it from the factory) if they had an older version, I would gladly donate my old SD to a member for testing, as I now have 12.5 so I don't need it.

Also I wonder if the SD can be cloned.. hmm..

I have emailed them and they told me to call BlueLink (even though I don't have a subscription). I did that, and after some deliberation, their representative told me that the company "Android" - ostensibly the manufacturer of "Android Auto CarPlay" - pulled the update from their website and that is why it's not available on MyHyundai any more, and they don't know if or when it would become available again. Obviously that person was not very informed, but it does hint that the update may have indeed been pulled.

well what current version do you have?

my original that came with the car is:

Model: DH PE

I-Box Ver. PR_DH_NA E400 20180502

S/W Ver. DH PE.USA.SOP.01.008

MAP Ver. 11.47.44.462.204.2

I would suspect that if you have an older version that that, mine would update yours, the question therein is whether or not CarPlay/Android Apple is included on my OEM SD card, and if it will upgrade your unit or not..

I don't know if the SD chips are model specific or not. I have the more advanced system (9.2") as I have a Sport.

You mean you have a G80? Yeah, I imagine that is not very likely to work, especially since it's a DIS (you do have a dial, right?). I'm hoping that someone with at '15 or '16 Genesis (i.e. back when it was still a Hyundai) saved their update .exe (or .dmg) and that would work with my SD card.

Yes g80 sport with DIS

I just ordered it since all the information on the internet is so vague. Didn't want to risk doing the wrong install to the radio.

When I ordered it, I set it up for download and ordered the SD card separately (They wanted $30 for 16GB) since the price was ridiculous. Once I paid, they require you to submit you're VIN number and your radio ID. So I think this is a one time installation which make it hard to get your hands on a working copy I think.

Will let you know how it goes.

There are (or were, at least) two different ways of getting Android Auto/Apple CarPlay in a 2015-2016 Genesis. One is to pay mapnsoft for a full map/navi update, which is what you did. That update is definitely VIN-specific and won't work for any other car. The other way is (or was) to download a free update file through MyHyundai. That update did not include any maps and as far as I can tell, was not VIN-specific, so it could still potentially work for other cars if we can get our hands on it.
