  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I don't recall seeing anything posted on this previously, but I've suddenly lost the ability to hear the other end of a phone call through the hands-free system. It doesn't matter if I initiate the call or not...people on the other end can hear me just fine, but I don't hear a thing (voice, static). The display indicates a connected call, and the system is still muting the audio system, so the cabin is quiet.

I can't find anything in the DIS manual on this, nor can I discern any settings that I inadvertently messed up in the last few days.

Has anyone else encountered a problem like this?

Is it possible your speaker volume is set for zero or one when the call is initiated? I have been able to set different volume levels for: phone calls, map guidance & radio. The system seems to remember all settings individually.

To test this, the next time you make or receive a call, turn up the volume while the call is active.

Do you have an internet enabled phone? It mutes the phone when it tries to call home. See thread elsewhere on the board on this.

Problem solved, and I'm embarrassed to admit what the cause: clueless owner! When the phone mode is enabled, the volume control on the steering wheel works just like it does for the various audio modes, and for some reason, the volume was down to zero for the phone.

Oh well, at least I worked it out without a trip to the dealer! Thanks for the suggestions...as it turns out, kbmeunkel was spot on.

It works the same for my car as well (non Hyundai). The radio can be playing at a specific volume. Then the phone rings. The phone call is at it's own volume level. Wherever you leave that when the phone call ends, that's where it'll pick up again for the next phone call.

One thing that's a little crazy on my car is if I have the stereo very loud (where my ears have adjusted for it) and then the phone rings - I get used to the volume of the call. When the call ends, the volume of the stereo picks up where it left off, blaring! :o

No problem, then...just crank up the phone volume so your blaring audio doesn't shock you after you hang up ;-)

That might help a little - but I don't want EVERYBODY hearing my conversation. :p

It would be nice if the system would either lower the stereo volume to a user-specific level - or just have the volume increase slowly, giving you the chance to lower it before getting bombarded with loud music.

How does this work on the Genesis? Same way?

No, Genesis is much the same, in that the audio system returns to whatever setting you had it on before the phone call was received or initiated. Frankly, I'm just as likely to jump when the audio system mutes itself upon an incoming call as you are when it comes blasting back on. When the stereo goes quiet on me abruptly, my first reaction is invariably "now WTF happened?"

But I agree with you...it wouldn't be that tough to design a system that restores the audio level gradually, but I'm not aware of a manufacturer that does it that way.

There will be times that I'll be inclined to disable the incoming call functionality(and thus the auto-mute feature), but I'll have to experiment with it first to make sure that de-pairing my cell phone from the DIS isn't a major hassle when I want to re-pair it later. It'll probably be easier to just shut off the cell phone, I suppose.

Glad to help.

When using the Navi, and "Jenny" starts talking to you, the volume control on the radio also controls the Navi volume control (as well as the phone volume control). Have not used the volume control on the steering wheel for Jenny, or for phone volume control, as I find it is much easier to just reach for the radio knob and turn it up, all without looking. I have to look at the steering wheel volume control, taking my eyes off the road, so I just never use it.

When I was test driving the Infinity G37, I was just reaching for where the radio knob was too. I was being a good driver and trying to keep my eyes on the road. The car kept getting warmer but the radio never got louder, finally I asked the sales guy sitting in the passenger seat why the radio wasn't getting louder and he told me nicely that I had been turning up the heater and the volume control was higher up on the mid-console or on the steering wheel.

I guess it's whatever I get used to that feels natural.:)

Is anyone having problems with blue tooth connecting to your phone. It seems I need to uninstall my phone and reactivate it all the time to get it to work.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The bluetooth connectivity on the Tech Package works well on my 2010 with both my iPhone and Blackberry. I can switch between them easily and have not needed to "re-pair" either one.
Most phones allow automatic discovery or prompt you to accept a connection or a pairing. If you have more than one device paired with the phone, such as a BT headset, you may have the priority on the phone setup to connect with that first which would prevent it from connecting to the Genesis. What kind of phone do you have? What version of firmware on the phone and which BT package for your Genesis (tech, premium)?

Mine was working fine until I had taken it in to the dealer's for the fog lamps not working (blown bulbs) and they "upgarded" the software. Now I'm having all kinds of problems with the DIS, including times when I'm listening to my radio (satellite) and it goes blank (sound & screen), and somtimes it randomly cycles through the entire system. Now it won't even connect to the BLUETOOTH. It goes in the shop (again) on Tuesday!

Re: Phone

Okay, I took it to the shop yesterday (Tuesday, 11-08-11) and when I got it back they told me they are ordering a "new" system (they couldn't get it to work on any phone they tried, either) to install. I also had them look at my wheels, which are flaking. This is not supposed to happen with a car costing this much money. I have the 18 inch wheels which I thought were aluminium alloy, but apparently they aren't. Anyway, they said a rep was comming in to look at them (they took photos so they didn't have to keep the car). I'm certain they'll need to replace them. I'm on the fence when it comes to faith in the dealer service. I decide for sure if and when this problem is resolved.
