  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm a new Genesis owner and trying to get the nav system to do a route from Asheville, NC to Beech Mountain, NC along the Blue Ridge Parkway but the nav system does not want to go that way. Is there a secret to forcing it to take this route?

In the Genesis' nav systems defense I can't get Google Maps or Mapquest to take the Blue Ridge Parkway either. They all seem to do their best to keep you off the parkway.

Pick a waypoint on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the nav should take you that way unless there's an alternative that it "thinks" is better. With enough waypoints, you should be able to go the way you want, though.

I agree use waypoints

Yea, I've tried it but for some reason it tries to get me off the parkway as soon as possible. It's not unique to the Genesis. I've tried building the route on Google Maps and Mapquest and I've even had them telling me to reverse course and even some bizarre loops trying to get me on any other road. There is something funny in the databases for the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's almost like the Park Service said keep people off this road.

Thanks for the replies. At least now I know I'm not doing something wrong.

Try "reroute minimize freeway" option. I love this option when I take road trips. It usually takes me the scenic route and I found some really interesting sights taking these routes.
