  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As said I’m planning on getting the Ceramic coating on our 2016 Ultimate and am curious if other owners have had this application done and what their experiences were like, thrilled with the results...maybe not so much, .how did the application hold up, cost ....etc.

Sorry to be one of those wise guys who remind you to search the forum. But before I tried to answer the question, which I have already addressed multiple times, I tried the search. Found tons of good stuff easily; too much to repeat.
:)

I just did a paint correction/ceramic coating myself December 2018 since I have all the tools. Your price will vary based on your market, coating brand, level of swirl removal, and of course installer experience. But I'd say you're looking at 600-1500.

Mine seems to be holding up well and totally worth the time--it beads water well and the car stays much cleaner after a rain.

Right side is coated after 13 months. Left is a panel that got repainted so I still need to reapply.

being here in Phx. I’ve done some research and found what I feel is one of the top Ceramic Coat installers,Crystal Clear , my Lady is scheduled for this coming Weds. Really Excited to see the results. $1100 for the two Coat opti Coat with the 7 yr warranty seems quite reasonable. Price also includes detailing the Leather interior also.
One question I have is as to getting her washed afterwards. Is it advisable to stay away from the automatic type car washs and use hand wash....that seems totally reasonable or does it really not matter that much.
Definitely wouldn’t use a facility that whips the car with cloth strips, soft roller brush’s only.

Ceramic coatings do best with hand washing. Opticoat has pushed a lot their optimum maint products such as ONR and their Big Red Sponge. The combo help reduce marring and scratches overall which would be very beneficial. Also reduces water usage, chemicals, and time, plus you can wash vehicles in your garage when weather isn't so favorable. I'm sure your installer can provide more info as well.

From what I have read, while not as good as a hand wash as long as you don't get the wax applied with the wash you will be fine using an automatic touch wash. Many say to avoid the touchless washes since the chemicals can shorten the life of the ceramic coating. Then again some say avoid touch washes since it can cause scratches and swirls. In the end, see what is recommended and what the downsides are to other methods so you can make a choice that works best for you.

Definitely planned on recommendations from my installer but wanted to check with those that have actually gotten the Ceramic Coat installed
The more the merrier .....your the ones that would know...lol

With or without a ceramic coating I would always suggest hand wash over a tunnel wash.
