  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was going to do a drain and fill on my brake fluid today. Noticed inside the master cylinder there was a reddish plastic insert not allowing me to insert a tube to drain. I was afraid to force the issue and ideas?

I removed the red mesh filter insert on my 2015 5.0 by using pliers to pull on the red insert edges while working it up until the support tabs gives. I ended up deforming the insert edges but it still snaps back into place in the brake fluid reservoir. So be careful since the red plastic is very soft.

I had to remove the insert just to check my brake fluid with a meter due to the mesh filter in the insert that prevent access to the fluid.
