  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My trunk latch is apparently stuck on something inside the trunk… Probably the fabric of a green bag is my best guess. The valet lock is NOT engaged. I hear it clicking but it is stuck. Key also does not open it. I understand if I get the back seat down I can access the emergency trunk release. (Cannot find where the emergency release is inside the trunk either.) Please advise how to get the backseat to release or other options.

I haven't removed rear seat cushions in many years, but it used to be that you can push against the bottom seat cushion toward the rear of the car and it will then lift out. I used to lay down in the car in front of the seat to use my arms and legs to push it, getting leverage against the back of the front seats.

Once the bottom seat is out, it should expose bolts that can be removed in order to take out the rear seat back. I think it hangs on hooks. But they may have changed things in the last 30 years...

Also, if you take it by a dealership they can probably get to it pretty quickly.

1. Try the mecahnical key.
2. If still stuck, try pushing down on the trunk lid when unlocking with the mechanical key.

Mine has an access panel behind the center armrest. If it’s the same as my ‘09, fold the rear armrest down, open the access panel, get a long handle or rod and use the manual emergency escape handle located just above the latch.
