  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Going to install a Fumoto drain valve with my first oil change. It's a ball valve with a spring loaded handle. Will have a plastic tube attached to drain the oil directly into a container (no mess). I can coil it up when I'm done and simply let it rest on the undercover. I think I can reach the valve to open/close without removing the undercover. When I get my new car ramps this week, I'll let you know if this might work....stay tuned!

Interesting idea. Not sure if the valve will fit as from memory, the cover is pretty darn close to the drain plug. But if you can get to it without removing the cover that is a bonus.

I have done two oil changes myself now and it is a bit ridiculous that both covers have to come off. I know you can you the suction/top side oil change but I prefer to drain the oil from the bottom if at all possible.

The V8 is even worse - but I used a Mity-Vac fluid pump very successfully to vac the oil out. Thus only the front panel has to be removed. You do need both a Mity-Vac and an air compressor. But, it worked like a charm.

So what was the outcome of this? I was just looking at the fumoto drain valve. Thinking of doing this.

I installed a fumoto valve on my 2015, but I also installed the (2017+)newer body under covers with the oil filter/drain plug removable covers as well for an easier oil change.

Nice. I'm sold. I have,,,, had one on my Sky before the oil pan was recently replaced so now I'll be purchasing two. Went to change the oil and noticed that they didn't swap my drain valve. I could reach it and flip the valve open without even jacking the car. Is it easy to reach on the Genesis also or does it still require jacking up a bit to reach?

I just jack up my passenger side high enough for me to crawl underneath on a crawler. The panels are located in the center of the car, so you have to lift the car to access the oil filter and drain plug.

So I need new bolts for the splash guards, since the yo-yos after an oil change apparently left them out.
What are the specs for those bolts and how can I get them? Currently zip tied.

Do you have the part number for the new covers?

Much easier. Never jack it up again. Check my post at end of page.
