  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me where the fuse is for the power rear sunshade? I was at the park at a playground with my daughter when a baseball shattered my rear glass. That sucks; what sucks more is that the sunshade was deployed, meaning it filled up with broken glass, and if I put the car in reverse, it will dutifully start to retract and destroy itself. I'm negotiating with the people who ran the event whose ball broke the glass over insurance coverage (I was not a spectator and didn't even know anything was going on at the time I parked) but need to at least be able to move the car around while things get worked out (and maybe replace the glass and then have the dealer drop/clean the sunshade, ugh).

Anyway, if anyone knows how I can defeat the sunshade operation, that would be much appreciated!

It seems that the rear curtain is operated from the body control module, and there is no specific fuse just for the curtain. You could pull the fuse for the BCM, but I don't think that you can operate the car without that.
You can unplug the rear curtain motor, but to get to that plug you have to remove the rear package tray trim, and to do that you have to remove the rear seats. This is more work than you wanted to do for sure, but is is doable.

Crap. I was concerned about that when I looked at the fuse listings. I'm going to end up having the dealer pull the sunshade to get the glass out of it anyway, so I may be better off just not driving it until later in the week...

Thanks for the info!
