If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2011 Hyundai Genesis

Went to the dealership yesterday for my 67500 service and on the inspection report it says the power steering fluid needs to be filled. Not sure why they didnt just take care of it. Anyways I'm thinking about doing it myself. Do I need to remove the old power steering fluid before refill it or can I just pour in more power steering fluid?

Im starting to get into doing more maintenance on my car myself

You can just top it off. Be sure to use a compatible fluid though. If it were me I would be draining and refiling with new at that mileage. Usually you can just unhook one of the cooler hoses and the system will drain almost completely.

4 years into it, just curious if you had been DIYing your Genesis sedan. If yes any tips? Did you buy the right fluid? Thanks

Not on this forum as often anymore since i had to get rid of the genesis sadly. Drunk driver messed up my grill and right front end. Hopefully getting a G80 next year. Currently driving an Audi a4 which i'm DIYing a good amount

Anyways for the most part for the genesis I took it into the dealership for regular maintenance. Just oil changes pretty much. The only items i did myself were the engine air filter (super easy) and cabin air filter.

The genesis was super cheap to maintain compared to Audi hence why i do more DIY. Genesis oil changes $50 and Audi at the dealership over $200 (diy my oil changes now)

I've gotten more comfortable working on my car now so when i get the g80 i might diy more as well depending on maintenance cost

I am also interested in doing a DIY drain and fill of my power steering fluid on my 2009 genesis 3.8. I should say outright that I’m not a car guy so I was wondering where this cooler hose is located? Any instructions on how to do so would be very helpful. Thanks
