The owner’s manual states to never close the power trunk manually as it can damage the motor/closing mechanism. While I always use the power button to close the trunk, I worry about when others such as my detailer, service techs, or friends/family unwittingly close the trunk manually. I’ve caught my detailer doing it and my visiting father also, before I could intercept them. I certainly don’t want premature failure of the power trunk right after my warranty expires simply because a few people didn’t close the trunk properly. Has anyone had a problem with the power trunk or broken it from closing it manually?
