  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How is it possible that most of our 15-16 genesis’ all have the same exact issues and they’re somehow not recalled. Let’s start with the fluttering and the drive shaft being replaced. Next, my seat back detached. My LED dome light went out. My wiper sprayer broke. This car drives amazing but is honestly made like garbage and Hyundai needs to own their design flaws.

Recalls by the NHTSA are for safety issues. They don't care if your dome light went out.
I don't know how common the other problems you had really are. Usually, they are warranty issues.

You do realize the warranty doesn’t last that long right? If many people have the SAME EXACT problems Hyundai should be fixing it for free.

How many is many? I've heard of two people with the seat back coming off, a few with the driveshaft, some fixed under warranty, none with the dome light or sprayer. Four or five people on a forum is not going to start a major recall. If you can show many hundred or thousands with a defective part you have a chance.

Dome lights can burn out of 5 year old cars. You are correct that the warranty does not last that long, neither do cars, no matter the brand, they start to wear out with use and age. Show the parts were defective and many failed and you have a chance. Just as the sunroof warranty was extended.

Go through these forums and you’ll see way more than 2 people who have all of these issues. Maybe if you kiss Hyundai’s ass enough they’ll give you a free car :)

Round them up and start a class action suit against them. Mechanical things wear out and break. Prove it is more than the normal wear or parts are defective and you have a win.
How many dome light burnouts have you tracked? If you can get us free dome light bulbs for life you'd be my hero even though I don't recall one going out in over 30 cars I've owned.

The dome light isn’t even that big of a problem to me but everything else is. But if a dome light is only supposed to last 5 years then why make it over $700 to replace. Like I said before I love the car but if many people have the same issue Hyundai should address it

$700 on a dome light? Dayum. I can empathize, having had many problems with my own, and Lexus quality it ain't. But it's a 6-7 year old car now, things will break. After a few more years, more things will break.

As for common defects, TSBs and warranty extensions should go out, recalls are unlikely.

I agree with you. I think I spoke incorrectly when I called it a recall but y’all know what I mean lol. My car only has 45k miles lol

That's wrong. The limited warranty is 5 years, 60K miles and the powertrain warranty is 10 years, 100K miles. I find it hard to believe that you would have to pay for any of the repairs you claim since your car is 45K miles and still within the 5 year limited warranty which covers everything. Especially the driveshaft, which would be covered under the 10 year powertrain warranty.

Sounds to me like you bought a used uncertified car where the warranty didn't carry over or was void. If you made such a risky purchase, perhaps you should have inspected the car more carefully before jumping on it only to find out why its prior owner got rid of it.

Clearly you didn’t read where I said the driveshaft was REPLACED! I have an extended warranty but if you read threads you’d see that the problems listed (minus the driveshaft) weren’t covered. If your car has had 0 problems then bravo to you but several of us have had lots of issues.

So aside from the driveshaft, which the warranty already took care of, you think the car is "made like garbage" because the dome light went out, the seat back detached, and a wiper sprayer broke? You consider these to be "lots of issues" for a 5 year old car that you presumably bought used?

Furthermore, if you have a warranty, then none of these items should have cost you anything. Unless your warranty is a third party one that doesn't cover anything.

If you feel that it's such a steaming pile, you're free to just get rid of it...

Although, I tend to agree that the AWD driveshaft issue is suspect (as well as early 2015 Ultimate head unit failures), the rest is likely 5yrs of wear & tear taking their toll and shit happening. I just had to replace an alternator @ 84k - I'm not calling it a "design flaw", it was a wear item that bit the dust.

I never called it a pile of shit dude. Y’all are so damn sensitive when it comes to talking about a car y’all own. It’s ridiculous. The FACT is that there are certain problems SEVERAL people have had even when their car was only ONE to TWO years old. I have to make sure I capitalize the shit so y’all don’t get butt hurt. If y’all don’t have any recommendations and just want to bitch at me then feel free to not comment at all keyboard warriors.

How much did the new alternator run you?

I didn’t realize you could type bold Mr. Keyboard warrior. You must not really have a life to keep commenting on other people’s post?

Retired, I'm able to perform public service like this. Glad I could help.
