If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone. I just installed a ProClip mount in the GV60, and although I know the ProClip has been mentioned before in this forum, hopefully some pics will help you visualize better. I also installed an ESR Qi-2 charger with MagSafe attachment and routed the power cable, hiding it as best I could, before connecting to the USB-C below the dash.

Why do all this since the GV60 has a charging pad and decent screens, especially with wireless CarPlay/AA?? First, the car's charging pad is only Qi (original spec) rated, and it's very slow to charge, produces a lot of heat, and often can't keep up with the power demands of CarPlay, much less actually charge the phone. Qi-2 solves much of those issues, and if you wanted to go with a native MagSafe, it would be even better (and more $$). And then second, I want to have use of my phone and be able to see its screen when running an alternate app, etc.

The ProClip mount is $40 (ouch), and you will need more accessories to actually attach and power your phone, but those can be found at lower prices. The ProClip mount is custom designed and sized for attachment to the GV60 center-right vent opening. The mount does not interfere at all with the up/down or left/right motion of the vent control.

Here's what the mount looks like when attached, along with a 17mm ball-mounting plate, before any wires are run. You attach the mount by using the provided plastic spudger tool to open up the trim piece at the top of the vent, and then slightly squeezing the mount, and it expands back tightly. The Proclip uses the standard AMPS pattern, so you can select whatever mount is needed to pair with your charger. For the ESR, I used iBOLT AMPS Adapter Plate. Note that I only used fasteners in the top two AMPS holes, as the lower holes are too close to the ProClip lower arm on the backside to accommodate a nut. This is a small flaw in the ProClip design, but may have been unavoidable due to the sharp angle of the arm. In the end, using only two fasteners at the top is plenty strong. I also did not use the PSA adhesive strips that come pre-installed on the ProClip. Time will tell, but I didn't think they were necessary, and I wanted to be able to reverse and remove it all without any difficulty. So leave the blue pull strips in place.

And here's the back of the ESR Qi-2 charger. Note the use of a small, right-angle USB-C adapter to permit the best routing of the power cable. Instead of the cable going straight down, the adapter routes it backwards.

And here's the ESR attached to the ProClip and ball mount, along with my choice of routing the power cable. Those little black retaining clips are very handy.

And here's the finished look, without the phone in place. Even though you won't mistake it for a factory install, it blends in nicely. If you're really good about routing the power cable, even better! After this pic was taken, I re-routed the cable into the car's USB-C jack. Be careful not to foul the opening and closing of the little secret drawer right above the power panel!

And finally, here's the iPhone attached magnetically. It's an iPhone 12 Pro, but not Max. Those of you who use MagSafe know the connection is pretty strong. As a side benefit (stretching here...), the air vent is in a great position to help cool the charger, as even Qi-2 generates heat.

Awesome setup and thanks for sharing with all the details and pictures. As an Android user I am officially jealous of you iPhone users :). All of the wireless mounts I have seen for Android are more typical cradle types.

Or, you can just MagSafe mount it in the blank space between the screens. I used an old iPhone screen protector to cut a piece of PPF to protect the screen, and it has worked wonders.

I have since switched over to a Peak Design black rectangular MagSafe mount in the same spot, and it looks as native as can be.

If you need charging, you can even mount an official MagSafe puck in the same location.

Interesting. How do you actually attach that mount to the vehicle screen? Also, is it powered? WIres?

Is it me, or is the mounting bracket of rather crude construction?

Well, you're seeing it up close with a bright lantern light shining on it in my garage. But regardless, the finish is not as nice as the vehicle dash! Still, you will not notice the mount behind whatever charger you use.

Mount came with 3M HBV Tape, taped to 3M PPF, PPF attached to the display. Not powered, but can be if you use an official Magsafe charging puck, paint the wires black and it will blend right in. Or simply get a black aftermarket puck.

Ok, I gotcha. So you're using PPF (paint protective film) as a mild adhesive layer right on top of the vehicle screen, then adhering that to your mount with the strong stuff (I assume you meant VHB?). The PPF should be removeable without any issues, yes?

Yep you got it! That's exactly what I did! I have removed the PPF before when I swapped out the Encase mount pictured to the Peak Design mount.

If I need charging, I do manually plug the phone in, as I would imagine it could get quite hot with MagSafe charging. Still better than the existing wireless charging cradle no matter what though!

Yeah that was me, and I even posted a couple of pictures, but your pictures are better. I've been using the ProClip for about 6 months and I love it for all of the reasons you mentioned. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and it works just fine.

I actually have the opposite impression, it's super well made and looks like it is an OEM part of the car, at least from any normal distance.

I used to by ProClip mounts all the time from when it was a startup company. I just don't need one these days. They are very well made but I never liked the fact you had to marry two parts together which can look crude.

For the newer Samsungs that have Qi charging, you can get a magnetic case that will allow for the same type of installations as the photos above.

Not just Samsungs (Android) - I have a Pixel with a faux-leather case (came with a minimal flip-wallet - like this but they've changed it - 2 in1 Magnetic Leather Wallet Case ), magnets in the case + wallet to attach to each other, and I believe it is strong enough to be able to hang. I do like the ProClip + Qi2 setup, but I've frankly no need for it at this point.
