proud new owner of 2013 2.0t, few q's

I bought a 13 2.0t a couple weeks ago, having loads of fun with it..only problem is I want to mod it a little bit but I'm not sure where to start, I asked the dealership about putting a BOV or intake on it and he seemed to really be talking against it saying it'll void my warranty? If anybody could help me out, like if I put a k&n air filter on it, do you guys see me running into any problems regarding the warranty, thanks

Well, please don't take this as attitude, but you're not the first young person to buy the 4cyl turbo Coupe, very soon realize you wish it were faster, then get online to seek advice. The 3.8 V6 would not leave that impression. The Sonata's 4cyl engine is just too weak in torque for the weight of the Genesis Coupe, even with a turbo mod, but the power to weight of the V6 is ideal. Did you test drive both? Was the price difference that much?

My suggestion is to listen to your dealer, or talk to the mechanics, because you will need them over the time you have the car. An air filter (not an intake) won't matter, warranty-wise, and might give you 5-10HP, but I think the stock one is already hi-flow, and there is no EPA "carbon" filter to remove as in the V6 American models (I removed mine and regained an easy 10-20HP). There are turbo kits which will give you more top-end screaming power for sure (and plenty of people bragging about them), but the engine is still a 2-litre 4cyl, so torque will be hard to get without a racing rebuild.

So, yes, your warranty will be voided with such major mods. The stock CAI, computer, and other features are already highly optimized, so most people find after spending a lot of money and time that their car is actually slower, smokes, wears out other parts, and has no warranty coverage. Beware!

The 2.0 motor in the Gen is great man with the right mods you will smoke the v6 but you will have to void warranty so it's just all up to the owner to do so
